Antonio Lindbäck has decided to retire

Recommended Posts

Antonio says to SVT sport that he has decided to retire.

Quote

"Hans beslut grundar sig främst på en jobbig säsong där covid-19 låg bakom att han fick sitta i karantän i flera veckor i Polen, utan att kunna träffa familjen.

– Det tog bort lusten lite. Och då bestämde jag att jag skulle ge mig på något annat, och faktiskt lägga släpskon på hyllan, säger Antonio Lindbäck till SVT Sport."

Superb talent and remember him bursting onto the scene well.

I think it would be fair to say with his talent at a young age , he should of ended up with a world championship medal.

was arguably the most exciting rider in the world around 2004/5/6ish.

Svt made a short documentary about Antonio but unfortunately it's only available in Sweden.
I'll post it anyway though: https://www.svtplay.se/video/29055502/rio-rocket-en-osannolik-speedwayresa

"Speedwaysnack- hemma hos" video blog series also have three episodes with Antonio:

Part 1: https://youtu.be/TJjk6PXagew
Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6iDUsQ8DUo

Seems a bit premature to me, I fancy he'll be back at some stage in the future. I think he's always struggled to handle the pressure at the highest level but I do think he could make a decent living riding in the Swedish, British and Danish Leagues and open meetings around Europe without the pressures of the GP and Polish Leagues and he'd probably enjoy it a hell of a lot more too.

Rumours of his demise are greatly exaggerated!

Was glad to see him riding in the Swedish League last week, as I mentioned earlier I think a spell in leagues with less pressure will do him the world as good as he's still very much a quality rider with years left in him yet

Just riding for his local club in Sweden to help them out!

Never been a fan to be honest a very good rider though good luck to him whatever he does.

The irony of comments in post 12 on that linked story

I was never a fan of Lindback either tbh. Don’t think he had the attitude or guidance to match his ability. Just hope we aren’t reading about a downward spiral of his life in years to come
