ch958
just seen that Mark Loram is being interviewed on a website and I wondered how he makes a living these days. Does anyone have any stories about what retired riders are doing now?

Piotr Pyszny
Duncan Chapman, who spent virtually his whole career (1989-95) as a reserve or second string at Middlesbrough, is retailer principal at Ray Chapman (his father, I've always assumed) Motors' York branch. Judging by the pic on the firm's website, Duncan is ageing pretty well! Edited November 11, 2020 by Piotr Pyszny 1
Ovalman
Martin Ashby had his motorcycle repair shop in Marlborough 5 years ago when I visited, don't know if he's still there. Rosco is driving vans and trucks as his pub is temporarily closed in lockdown. Edited November 12, 2020 by auntie doris
SPEEDY69
Jeremy Doncaster works at RAF Wattisham which started with electrics many years ago but has widened a lot since then. He's also a machine examiner at Ipswich. Backtrack magazine is a good source of articles such as this thread, well worth a subscription.

He was the ref at the 1983 World Pairs Final and allowed PC back into the rerun after he appeared to fall on his own at the first bend in the race against the Danes...Not sure if that's the one you are thinking of?
Guest compost
Anyone know what happened to Hans Wasserman (Reading Racer 77-78) after his bad accident ? Always thought he was going to be the top German at Speedway until that accident but have never seen an update on his condition. Thanks

Perhaps he was also the referee in charge when Hans Nielsen literally fell over the tapes during one individual meeting?
