Ovalman
Just chatting to Martin on Facebook. Said he rode with his Dad Clive for Swindon in 1973. Probably the only father and son to ride for the Robins in their 71 year history? Car accident curtailed his career.

Off the top of my head, I think Charlie finished riding in 1946, John first appeared in 1957 and Bob a couple of years later.

Chum Taylor 'retired' from British speedway after his season at Cradley Heath in 1966. However, when Glyn came over from Perth to ride for Peterborough in 1973 Chum followed shortly afterwards, believing he had agreed a deal with promoter Danny Dunton to also ride for the Panthers. Chum was told there was no team place for him and so a deal was done for Glyn and Chum to ride for Crewe. Glyn had a team place there for the rest of the season, but Chum was set to ride in the second half until race fit. Unfortunately, he fell in his first ride and broke his shoulder. That was his final race in Britain. Edited October 25, 2020 by BL65 1
tigerowl
John Priest was 48 when he rode for Sheffield Prowlers at Ashfield in 2000 in the same team as his son, Luke. It was John's first league outing for over 20 years.

Rode with his dad at Hackney on the 27/04/73 remember that year well remember Martin riding in second half ride's with Bobo Valentine.1973 that year sticks in the mind because the Sumner McKnight venture did not come off and without Briggo the year was a long one .One good memory though was Swindon thrashing the Cheetahs in the Midland cup.
