BSPL AGM

The maths are now simpler. The Govt want to vaccinate everyone over 50. That's about 26 million people. The Govt reckon they can vaccinate 2 million a week. That's 13 weeks for the first dose and 12 weeks for the second which takes us up to the end of June to finish the over 50s. To do this and keep the programme rolling would mean they would have to start vaccinating 4 million a week from week 13 onwards. This all depends on getting enough doses and the people to give them. So by Easter only 26 million people 50 and over will have received one dose - if we are lucky!

But you should have a reasonable immunity after the first dose.

AGM. Putting covid-19 aside, the fact is Speedway in the U.K. is in need of a major overall. Tweeking what we already have (as per the norm) will achieve nothing or at most very little.

Standard/formula engines & equipment are a must for the sports survival but will it ever happen?

"Promoters" must look outside the box.

The once regular weekly home meeting is the one vital ingredient to keep your paying public's interest.

All Promoters know what the options are - they just need to further discuss, vote and get a majority view.

and this is where forward thinking will clash with stuck in the mud :(

I thought the Swedish fixtures always started in May.

But they only have 8 home meetings

See Bspa bulletin , to do with rider availability and stuff

How many riders are now actually effected by Poland’s restriction though? All these press releases that keep referencing the problems around rider availability because of Polish restrictions

We’ve already had Jack Holder and Jason Doyle confirm they are going to carry on over here, whilst Robert Lambert, Rohan Tungate and Nicki Pedersen are confirmed as being out. Haven’t seen anything on Dan Bewley or Jaimon Lidsey.

The ‘massive rider availability’ problem is because 5, possibly a few others aren’t riding here? Has to be more to it than that.

Six man teams in both leagues?

Premiership Lite? Two Prem heat leaders, two second strings/championship 'third' heat leaders who double up, two Championship second strings/reserves who double up?

Championsip Lite? One heat leader (doubling down), three Championship level second strings/Prem reserves doubling down, two reserves (NL double uppers?)

Mainly British, lots of rides for the double uppers/downers, and gives plenty of the NL lads a chance to race in the 2nd tier..

Maybe even do some number crunching to devise a set maximum points limits on each segment of the team, ie top two riders, middle two riders, and bottom two riders all have a maximum points level per pair that you must work to, this would prevent one team having two outstanding heat leaders...

Very important that each track gets a fair crack at putting a decent team together..

If you gave them the keys to the brewery, everyone would go home stone cold sober.

They have had months to work it out - the Polish situation has been known for months and you cannot say that you didn't know the Brexit transition was ending and how that might affect employment rights of Europeans.

It could, and should, have all be sorted out months ago.

They are dithering.

Having a major rider (who will have had fixtures planned around his own individual ambition and racing schedule), be announced the day before the planned AGM that he won't be riding over here, suggests the last nine months of planning opportunity hasn't been too well delivered doesn't it?

Maybe the time has been spent on the usual "how can we work around every one else's agenda instead of ploughing our own furrow and become in charge of our own destiny?"...

I couldn’t agree more. When the season starts because of corona virus is neither here nor there with regards the make up of the teams.

It’s an absolute mess to now have made no plans and solutions to conquer Brexit, Polish League and other doings which have been on the cards as you say for months and beyond.

The unfortunate thing is that nobody will be in the least bit surprised.

Get the feeling that some Promoters are burying their heads in the sand hoping they don't have to deal with the inevitable.

A week isn't going to make that much difference unless they are all waiting for the Polish Authorities telling them what to do next?
