It's difficult to say after 2 rounds but just going on pure percentages, Woffinden, Zagar & Fricke with Vaculik being a big loser

Good analysis. However, you do have to make an adjustment. The total race points available from 23 heats is 138. Whereas the total championship points available is 146. So you have to to inflate the race points by nearly 6% to make the comparison. Thus the gain/loss for each competitor now looks like this:

    1 2 total pts +/-
Freddie Lindgren 37% 10 11 21 30 9
Matej Zagar 14% 6 4 10 12 2
Max Fricke 14% 2 8 10 12 2
Tai Woffinden 13% 12 15 27 32 5
Gleb Chugunov 8% 6 8 14 16 2
Patryk Dudek 3% 5 7 12 13 1
Bartosz Zmarzlik 2% 11 14 25 27 2
Maciej Janowski 0% 17 19 36 38 2
Jason Doyle -6% 5 3 8 8 0
Niels-Kristian Iversen -6% 3 11 14 14 0
Antonio Lindback -6% 1 1 2 2 0
Artem Laguta -9% 20 13 33 32 -1
Mikkel Michelsen -14% 5 7 12 11 -1
Leon Madsen -16% 13 7 20 18 -2
Emil Sayfutdinov -18% 11 6 17 15 -2
Martin Vaculik -26% 11 4 15 12 -3

Wholeheartedly agree with Philip Rising in his In My View feature in this week's Speedway Star regarding the new scoring system for SGP, as he says change for the sake of change is never a good idea. Hopefully the FIM will see the error of their ways and revert to the way we are used to for 2021.

Why would it have been called off ?

After the game, the Czech FA announced the team would not be facing the Scots "due to representatives' decision and the current situation with the Covid-19". The statement added: "The national team ends current preparations with the immediate effect straight after the win against Slovakia."

Members of the squad and a backroom staff member tested positive for the virus.

Czech FA wanted to postpone. UEFA said no. Czechia sound like they will now be using a reserve squad and staff on Monday.

Edit - Actually the report I read about players testing positive seems wrong. They are just self isolating after being in contact with the staff member who was positive.

I'm very interested in this comparison but as an example did Zmarslik give it 100% behind Woffy in the heats ?    He knew he was in the semi, had gate choice so there was no need to take any chances.     Under the old system he would have been flat out.

The 2020 system allows a rider to coast in his last heat or two, maybe try a set up for the semi, rather than have to get every point at all costs.   I'm sure it wouldn't happen but the system could allow a bit of team riding to get a mate into the semi.

I think what it does show, so far anyway, is that consistency (some may call it mediocrity) is paying off big time over the series... it's saying to me cruise home for a 3rd or 4th in a final and don't risk the win, ironically the new points system was brought in to encourage the winner of an individual event getting the most points, all well and good for a one day event, over a series it's being shown to fail
