They were informed 4-5 weeks ago by WRFU that July wasn’t available and they couldn’t offer any alternative dates until at least November and that Cardiff Police have indicated that any events at the stadium cannot take place on the same day as Cardiff city are playing at home Why can’t an event take place on the same day as the football? Last year it did !!

I can only imagine that BSI have their own difficult legal complications to overcome first. After all the Cardiff cancellation will blow a big hole in their finances. I stand to be corrected, but I think it is the only event in the series, where they are also the local promoters? They will have their own insurance claims to deal with. They may even seek compensation from the stadium owners. I am sure they have to get absolute black and white written confirmation that the GP cannot go ahead from WRU, Millenium PLC, Welsh Government to be "forced" to cancel, to put them in the strongest position to make claims. None of this helps the punter of course, ie. you and I. But with BSI losing the SGP contract from 2022, sadly and cynically, customer relations will not be their priority right now. Let's be honest, the speedway crowd is not the wealthiest demographic around either, so I would urge anyone to hang onto their cash for now. This event simply aint happening. Take away the 14 days the riders will have quarantine and it should be short season in Poland.

Wales rugby team have home matches every weekend in November - and those will likely be behind closed doors.

flagrag
It will be interesting if BSI get statement out in the morning now that National Media have confirmed that the stadium will remain equipped as a hospital until the autumn. I suspect that they are trying to do a release with new details of British GP at another venue with lower capacity(Not Belle Vue ) and also to confirm ticket prices and any GWG discounts they will offer to existing ticket holders so that BSI can keep the majority of money paid. Any restaging of the event will also be subject to UK Government allowing events of over 2,000 people

HGould
Time for some people to stop living in a parallel universe. There is not going to be any Sport in UK and probably most of Europe in 2020 with any substantial Crowd allowed to attend. The only scope GP currently has would be "behind closed doors in Poland" where most of the riders are based until at least September. It will be many months before any Crowd of more than a few hundred is allowed (indoor or outdoor) and most likely that Countries much farther along the wave 1 recovery curve will lead the way. New Zealand, no deaths and no infections for over a week as an example is talking about crowds of up to 100 by SEPTEMBER if those trends continue. 4
