I'm sure this is being shown for the benefit of Geoff100 ;)

For our opening match of the 1999 season, the third at Armadale Stadium, we faced Workington who were returning to the sport. The Comets had Carl Stonehewer and Brent Werner in an entertaining lineup while Monarchs had James Grieves as part of a nearly all-Scottish lineup. The odd man out was Peter Carr! The match was full of exciting racing and also features an interesting interview with Comets promoter Ian Thomas. Runtime: 52:02

MONARCHS V REDCAR

Join us this Tuesday, 21st April 2020, from 7:30pm as we turn back the clock to July 2008 for the Monarchs v Redcar Premier League match.

Our 2008 side was one of our best ever, a team full of skill and youthful enthusiasm. However we knew that Redcar could always be relied on for strong opposition especially with track specialists Grieves and Havelock leading the way. On our side Carl Stonehewer was standing in for the injured William Lawson. We suffered a major setback in heat 1 but our team was made of strong stuff.

Great, but why isn't this also advertised on BSPA website with the other clubs' offerings?

MONARCHS V GLASGOW

Join us this Friday, 24th April 2020, from 7:30pm as we turn back the clock to September 2017 for the Monarchs v Glasgow Championship match.

Late in 2017 Edinburgh and Glasgow were both chasing Playoff places when Tigers came to Armadale on 15th September. Tigers had a strong team and for the early part of the season seemed set to sweep all before them, but all had not gone according to plan. However the visitors had Richie Worrall, Richard Lawson and Aaron Summers as a strong spearhead, while Sam Masters, Ricky Wells and Erik Riss were the home heat leaders. The two no. 6 riders Max Clegg and Glasgow guest James Sarjeant were to play a big part in the match.

In recent years any match against Glasgow has been a tough one, so when we were drawn to face them in our first Knockout Cup tie of the 2018 season we probably did not feel we were favourites to progress. The Tigers had won by 7 points on their previous visit a few weeks earlier and had track specialist Richie Worrall and former GP winner Chris Harris spearheading our attack. We needed a big effort from all of our septet under the captaincy of Erik Riss to give us a chance.

MONARCHS V SHEFFIELD

13 years and one day ago we faced up to Sheffield in the Knockout Cup, having lost at Owlerton the previous night by 21 points. We were often well beaten on their big track, but equally the Yorkshire side were not always proficient at Armadale.

However they did have the ferocious Andre Compton in their lineup. Our team in the early part of the season contained an American, a Dane, an Italian, an Aussie and three Scots and they gave their all on what proved to be a dramatic night.
