I also saw Steve Bast ride a couple of meetings for Wembley in 1970. I was just a wee lad at the time!

I do not think Steve Bast was    ever fully committed , he did not have is own equipment and rode the Wembley track spare for his entire Wembley  sojourn. I can  recall various riders trying to tell him what lines to ride but to no avail

One of his away matches was an abandoned meeting at West Ham. He must have got the shock of his life seeing the wide open spaces at Custom House!

I can remember Bert Harkins helping him, and i read that Steve thought he would be riding three or four times a week everyweek. That did not happen so he went back home. I often think also what could  Dewayne Keeter have achieved if he had comeback after his decent debut 1969 season.Keeter along with Keith Chrisko are the two Americans who don't get mentioned much but both could of gone on and had decent British league careers.

Seen that the polish top league clubs  have all received 600,000 zlt around £120,000 as part payment from tv deal which is a good help.

However they are still saying rider contracts will have to be renegotiated because their other income from local government and sponsorship from large companies is unlikely to be given,  companies will no longer have the cash for speedway because of coronavirus and the same goes from local government.

That's the big problem with polish speedway the money they give big riders signing on fee its stupid.  Now with what's happening in the world.  They will not have the money to giveaway? Will be interesting to see how the riders react.

So 2021 may be closer to a level playing field .....

Could be an opportunity for the UK to re-establish a stronger position

But our teams will be in a similar position, Companies will be thinking of survival rather than how much cash they have available for Sponsorship.

Quite probably - although in relative terms much less of an impact potentially

Everyone will be finding it hard at all levels whether it be as individuals, small companies and even big corporates

Whatever the conditions it's important to make the most of the situation you face

Would be nice if The BSPA announced they were giving some of the Eurosport money to PL/CL/NDL Clubs don't you all think?

It was clearly given to the Sport by Eurosport and not just for a few promoters at the top table of PL to guzzle up.

22 Clubs - if they gave just £100 k of the rumoured 500k deal at about 5 grand a club it might help a few through difficult times.

Doubt a penny will trickle down though.

Can't see it being paid now. No matches - no cash most likely, as it will have been tied up in a contract set by Eurosport and not the BSPA.

I also don't believe it would have anyway trickled down to "lower" clubs.

With no new sport to put on T.V  and this being what should have been the Speedway season why have they not re-run some Speedway action and not keep

pushing football down our throats all the time

Because Scumball is the god of TV and the press. At the very least they should be showing a mixture of sports and moving towards summer sports of which speedway is one that is shown on a regular basis.

Who owns the rights to the highlights of League matches and world finals ?  Is it the TV companies or the BSPA and the people who run the GP series ?

Probably the broadcaster at the time, sky sports, Eurosport’s, BT sports.

If there is any racing, I can see the Poles pretty much using every night available, using all except maybe Tuesday..

The TV stations will want to show as much live sport as they can post lockdown and the sponsors will want as much exposure in whatever time is left to run a season.

And riders obviously will want to ride as many times as they can for the clubs that will be paying the most..

If Poland are going to dominate domestic speedway in terms of having any racing once this is all over then let's hope the UK can come back in 2021

I was going to say come back stronger however it won't ever be what it was before, so I'm hoping it restarts in 2021 in a format that simply works for the Sport in this country.
