BluPanther
People have been ringing up 111 because they have been using kitchen appliances made in China, and my local Chinese takeaway is 75% down on customers. Human ignorance has no bounds I had two women literally fighting over the last packet of paracetamol in my shop last night.. One woman picked it up and another snatched it from her as she had gone for it at virtually the same time.. They kicked off an argument and the one who got there seconds late wouldn't give it to the other woman so the one who had got there first gave the other a proper good right hander to the head, knocking her clean over and she landed like a snotty heap on the floor.. I would suggest she needed the paracetamol after all.. A certain irony. . 2
Hawk127
Perhaps league meetings are scrapped and each track runs a British Championship individual event with every rider left over here in the U.K. drawn to compete in x number of meetings. A weekly draw of eligible riders for those tracks that are still able to run. In effect you could see a Jason Crump quality of ride drawn to ride at the Isle if Wight. Spread the riders around to ensure as many tracks as possible can put on a good meeting and see some decent revenue. It really does not matter which track operates in which league, time for all to pull together for the good of the sport. I am sure something could be worked out if league meetings are a no go and better people than me can come up with a formula.

A ORLOV
After the bspa meeting on tues and with the number of riders not traveling here from europe already, I would not expect any meetings in the UK until an all clear for spectators at sporting events is announced by the govt. From next week speedway will be banned unless it is limited to 500 spectators, so that's a major loss making venture for most tracks with the riders that will be available. and how do the IOW afford Jason Crump, this is speedway, no way will a promoter who could be making money subsidise the IOW The other problem is that individual meetings are not very attended, so maybe the 500 gate limit would work in this case

If it gets suspended for a few months until June, could we see a reduced fixture list of the Premiership only riding 1 Home 1 Away & the Championship being just regional(North/South divide) then top 2 or 4 go to semi finals or quarter finals depending on number of teams.

Why is it on this forum you always have some one who cannot see the bigger picture and it is probably why Speedway today is in the mire which was not the case in the sixties and seventies when real supporters went to meetings to follow the sport and not like today where it is league racing or nothing and people wonder why the sport is in the state it is in. Supporters are not what they used to be. You like speedway racing or you like team sport. Years back some of the best meetings which were well supported were individual events but today who knows what works. Lucky all U K supporters are not in Australia they would have so much to moan about the set up but it works and yet U.K. followers benefit from these riders who ply their trade in individual meetings and turn up on these shores for farcical league meetings where double up and down makes it a joke. Why cannot speedway supporters look at the positive options rather than the negative side of everything. Who would want to run a team and be a promoter with negative people like many on this forum. Think outside the box for the sake of speedway not just the team/league racing.
old bob at herne bay
Very much depends on how many people turn out to watch, whatever the government advice. Given the age profile of the majority of supporters I would guess a fair number will stay at home and watch the TV. Personally it is hard to see the situation improving before Easter given recent actions around the World. It will surely put into jeopardy the SGP series with so many travel restrictions now coming into force. Looks like the roarin’ 20’s has started with a real roar. stay safe folks. Think outside the box for the sake of speedway not just the team/league racing. Its not a case of not looking at the bigger picture, and its not being negative but realistic, its common sense thought process Riders wont ride if they cant make it pay, tracks will run if they could, but that's only going to be in third tier with 500 supporters, and its common Knowledge that individual meetings are no where near as well supported as they used to be, that's why there aren't many around anymore Sheffield still have rent to pay, and with 500 supporters, they would lose money hand over fist, that's why I cant see it happening Also I cant actually see Jason Crump coming if his son cant ride in Europe And as someone has said they wouldn't be allowed medical cover because it may be needed elsewhere, so our opinions wont matter anyway Edited March 14, 2020 by The Third Man
