Bald Bloke
DC I would post it but don't know how to. Things include... Don't leave your home. Minimise the time you spend with others in shared spaces, kitchen, bathroom and sitting areas. Keep 2 meters away from others and sleep in a different bed where possible. Use separate towels and if possible use different bathroom, or clean your bathroom after every use. Avoid using the kitchen when others are present. Take your meals back to your room to eat if Poss. Ensure kitchenware is cleaned thoroughly. Edited May 15, 2020 by Bald Bloke

You would think that would apply to everyone in the UK, but it is Nicola after all Hope he's fit and well...

But I think we (who are the ones who HAVE received shielding letters) were trying to inform the group of actually how it is working in practice. Which seems to be somewhat different to what you and others have imagined. Edited May 15, 2020 by Grand Central

And yet NHS Scotland is held up - in some quarters - as being so much ahead of that awful Tory-run English version. I am happy with the Sassenachs.

The only help we have taken up is prescription delivery. I get annoyed at all the negativity from those that are not directly affected, especially when they get things wrong. If you stop and think of the massive numbers of people on the lists and the very short time the authorities have had to arrange stuff, they have done a bloody good job.

I have not needed any of the assistance offered as I have friends/family who have been able to meet our needs; but others I know have made use of the support and they report only positive things. In addition as a small business owner i cannot fault the various types financial assistance we have had, so far, and the excellent way the claims processes have worked.
IainB
It pains me to say it, but with the noises coming from the government about team sport "bubbles", I now can't see a British Speedway league starting this year

Technik
I think it's at the stage now where our promoters are becoming more worried about the financial losses if they were to run a shortened season into November. We have seen the indiscipline over the weekend with pubs allowed to reopen & as yet premier league football has not been granted a facility for any public attendance. I would hope the BSPA can be sensible at this point & stop stringing us along, We are aware that many stadiums are rented & their staff are in furlough & that many new problems have to be solved like protective shields at entry points, themo checks for all that enter the stadium, restriction of access from area to area & employment of more stewards to police social distancing. All this costs money & who is prepared to foot that bill. There are many clubs like IoW & Plymouth that rely on the holiday season & Peterborough who race at the EoE showgrounds that has cancelled all events this summer, then Poole & Kent who have hired Leicester as they are unable to access their own tracks to practice. I think it's time to bite the bullet. 1

The Third Man
Something has to done about attending sports events, certainly before the next football season starts or most league 1 & 2 clubs and some in Championship will go out of business Cant see a lot of difference in letting crowds into lower league football matches and speedway

Little wonder speedway is perceived as being stuck in the dark ages when supporters with views like you are still around.

hammer1969
The following has just been announced, surely now speedway can start up at the beginning of August. "Pools, gyms and sports facilities will be able to reopen and team sports and outdoor gigs resume in England, the government has announced. Outdoor pools and performances can resume from Saturday with social distancing in place, Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said. Beauticians, nail salons and tattooists can also reopen from Monday, he said. Indoor gyms, sports facilities and pools will be able to reopen from 25 July. Guidance will be published for team sports to return from Saturday."

Team Sports I would suggest are amateur / junior sports like soccer, cricket, netball, hockey etc.... My grandson has been training non contact and socially distances for past 3 weeks so hopefully now some matches. As for taking him to Villa or Brummies Speedway, I don't think today's announcement make any change at all?
