norbold
Sadly, my one and only visit to New Cross was the last meeting in 1963, So it was your fault!
iris123
Norbold, clivehitch or The Artist formerly known as Dick A question remains unanswered, namely who were The Rangers main rivals?I know at your age the old grey matter isn't what it used to be but surely one of you can remember Or did you think you had already answered

Guest clivehitch
Richard..i think they lost to Poole 41-37,i can remember Squibbo suffering a rare defeat.I was only 7..does anyone know where i can obtain a programme of that meeting or indeed any other in that fateful year? Wonder what happened to the Reeves,Penniket,Dugard,Lukehurst,Stevens.? Bought a 1963 Speedway Star at Belle Vue the other night but their record had been expunged. Any programmes magazines 40s/50s would be worth a few quid now. And yes it was your fault

norbold
Wonder what happened to the Reeves,Penniket,Dugard,Lukehurst,Stevens.? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm sure you don't need an answer about what happened to Bob Dugard! As for my mate, Stan (he says name dropping), he's alive and well and living in Witham. He can often be seen at VSRA functions and every February at High Beech. Yes, New Cross lost to Poole, 41-37. I was there and I still have the programme. Jimmy Squibb scored 10. He was beaten by Geoff Mudge and Tony Lewis. Lewis got a full maximum and Mudge got a paid maximum. And Stan won the last-ever race at New Cross beating Lewis, Mudge and Squibb. Edited September 15, 2004 by norbold
