If you read Castanga in the SS he’s says he will select from Nations, but will also make changes to ensure it’s the best riders are there.Surely Chuganov would be one of the wild cards. Probably- because reading the article again it`s clear the 15 SON competing nations won`t be all represented in this competition.

Tsukunov has made a decision to change his nationality. Things like these come with a price, live with it. Gleb would probably win it, but if the Poles have not named him... crescent girl
It is possible/probable that Poland would prefer to nominate "real Poles" for selection, rather than "flag of convenience" carpetbaggers. Poland putting Chuganov forward would be like the ACU pushing Rory Schlein into a GP as the British representative. It might be official and legal, but Poland is a very proud nation, and might fight shy of making such a move.

I think even the wild cards have to be nominated by a federation, to be considered by the FIM for inclusion.
Fromafar
Castagna said the U/21 commission confirms the field( whoever they are)and they also removed some of the weaker riders replacing them with riders from other Nations.”we also removed the weaker riders “suggests Castagna had a say .We shall see!! 19 minutes ago, crescent girl said: I think even the wild cards have to be nominated by a federation, to be considered by the FIM for inclusion. Normally yes, I think covid makes it a bit different. They dont normally ask SoN nations for names either...

arnieg
Lenarduzzi and Goret seem to be rather eccentric picks. There must be about 15 young Danes/Poles better than those two. Even if this has been done as one rider per country (plus second Pole as they provided last year's champ) I'd have put Pacalaj (Slovakia) above those two. Slightly surprised that Kotlyar is the Russian pick over Saydullin. I imagine Chulpac will be the wild card. And only two Poles so no Chugunov. Goret scored well in the French league matches which were run earlier this year- could be an improving talent.

Should have looked at your U21 rating to get a better idea. But as long as Castagna has a hole in his rear there was going to be an Italian in
HenryW
Jordan Palin saying on twitter that he has been selected to compete in the World U21 Final. Is this in place of Dan Bewley or am I misreading something?

Good well be, but since all riders were selected by FIM & associated, not 100% sure that a FMN can just change their rider, even with injury. Not sure who chose him though

There were 6 Brits in the 96 GP series and no Poles..Those were the days!
