iris123
Jacob Olsen talking about the pandemic and the effect on the Danish League . SES have already had to give their new event manager the sack and hope they might be able to start a shorter season in June !!! https://www.nordschleswiger.dk/de/sport/jacob-olsen-laesst-sich-nicht-ausbremsen?fbclid=IwAR2CYP9XkC2l_10YHL4Jw0uSorDP1um5aKT6oylAaCuUp8COSVdul0Z5_68
iris123
It seems meetings in Denmark can take place as long as no more than 500 spectators attend, which in reality would never be reached for probably 70%+ . Just the top international meetings and Superliga meetings. Even last time Vojens were in the top league I doubt they got that many most times. Superliga will discuss how the future looks this week and how they react to the rules. I guess if one of the football clubs can put up a big screen in the car park it could also be possible, but maybe not financially viable ? https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52347927 Edited April 22, 2020 by iris123
iris123
After the meeting yesterday they are hoping to start a short season in early June, but all depends on what the government decides......
iris123
Further relaxation of the rules on Denmark. If you have a wife/husband or parent or child living in Denmark you are allowed to visit them. But if you have a brother or sister you are still banned..... not much help
iris123
Still not heard anything. Gone past their hoped for start of early June and a June start looks unlikely now at all Did See though that the junior league or at least meetings had started this weekend Edited June 22, 2020 by iris123
iris123
See SønderjyskE the team from Haderslev are playing against Esbjerg next week in a cup final in front of 1,500 fans, so no real reason it would appear, why speedway can't start. That would be a decent crowd for a lot of meetings/clubs. But see some are complaining about the tourists must have 6 nights booked in Denmark to enter. People are getting around it by entering the country and then cancelling their hotel etc. The main thing is they have the paperwork on entering !!! racers and royals
Good news- i have just read in the Speedway Star that Brovst are back in the Danish Super league in 2021. Which will mean hopefully 8 teams next season.
iris123
Yes I saw Hans Nielsen said that a few days ago on FB. Not sure if he was just happy for his local club or he will be involved

Bavarian
Grindsted also withdrawn from the Superliga for this year, but will be back in 2021
iris123
No news on this. Guess it ain't going to happen, unless they do a fast tournament or something...... But did notice the other day news local to Vojens, that the Ice hockey team can allow 1,700 fans into their stadium and the handball team 1,000 !!! In theory you would expect an open air stadium like Vojens could host double that amount. Edited September 6, 2020 by iris123

racers and royals
Statement from the metal league about 2021- Google translated. - We want to send a clear message to the Danish speedway fans, sponsors and clubs, as well as to all the drivers who have a contract in the Metal Speedway League, that you will not experience another year on the sidelines, says Annette Vesterskov who is chairman for the league association. The eight clubs are GSK Liga Grindsted, Team Fjelsted, Esbjerg Vikings, Region Varde Elite Sport, Slangerup Speedway, Holsted Tigers, SES - Sønderjylland Elite Speedway and Nordjysk Elite Speedway from Brovst. - Without being able to go into details, we are working with more models in relation to any restrictions in the coming year, but most importantly, all clubs agree to ensure speedway at the highest level in 2021, states Annette Vesterskov. The league association meets again shortly after the New Year.
