Colts in.....eight teams it is then.

Great news that the Colts are in. What the team looks like will be interesting with Flint, Bickley & Rathbone moving on, Palin allegedly not allowed to treble up?

I can see Bailey, Woodhull, Bowen & McGurk returning with Brennan for the extra laps still leaving 8.92 for the final two riders (verge + 3 pointer?)

No brennan as tripling up is banned?

I imagine tom woolley and jack smith will be in the team? Harry (and sam?) Mcgurk at reserve. Paul Bowen and ben wood hull... dunno what that leaves left for a number 1? Maybe connor bailey will be available and the fixtures will be arranged around Glasgow's fixtures?

Glad to see the colts lined up.

Another option may be danny Phillip's if not retained by armadale?

Good spot!

Tom & Sam Woolley are a good shout, Smith possibly but the fact that he hasn't got fixed up anywhere as yet speaks volumes. Slim pickings given the Northern group have snapped up most of the local talent so either longer distance signings or a couple of rabbits out the hat

Does sam woolley still ride/what average did he last achieve?

Still knocking around i believe and was eyeing a place on the Island with Tom. Guessing he will be a 3.00. So the 3 from last year, 2 x Woolleys, Spooner and plenty left over for a big number 1 like Hume, Bowtell or Morley.

Tom Perry 8.50
Paul Bowen 3.36
Tom Woolley 6.69
Ben Woodhull 3.67
Jack Smith 6.50
Sam Woolley 3.00
Harry McGurk 3.00

Total: 34.72

Think we should be going for some younger riders. Personally wouldn't go for the Wooleys or Tom Perry.  Better to see the youngsters progress which is the point of this league.

Theres not an unlimited supply if young riders who are good enough for this league, were not poland. A few in each team is enough or else riders who aren't good enough will be thrown in too soon and hurt either themselves or others.

Spot on. The sport has become fixated with introducing new riders overnight but has done little to assist any development prior to this point. Yes the youth rounds have been expanded and offering better opportunities but this is mostly down to the individual clubs involved rather than a BSPL initiative   (remember when all PL teams would hoist a round and then a couple just didn't bother). The lack of support for the various development leagues over the past few years has been poor and yet now the league is in search of riders to fill team places, indeed Belle Vue could have continued with a dev league side and had some riders ready to go right now.

Didn't Perry quit at the end of 2019?

Slightly disappointed they’ve let young Rathbone go compared to who they’ve kept, he looked a prospect with his very limited motorcycle experience and has very good equipment.

Interesting the Colts are sticking to Friday nights , the busiest night in the championship. Stand by for missing visiting number 1’s unless they can juggle the fixtures to avoid it

To be fair, Friday night is a good night to run to generate a crowd and whoever rides are getting track time..

Which is what the NDL is all about...

The actual result is very much secondary to the progression of the riders so as long as 14 riders turn up each meeting all will get an opportunity...

And as long as admission costs are reflective of the level on offer I am sure some good weather on Friday's will get a fair few hundred there to watch it..

So if you look at age then no Bowen.

This is true. However he has little real experience and we have seen him progress. He's a bit of a crowd favourite so I'd exempt him from the general rule.

Very disappointed Rathbone has left  a strange  decision.

Maybe ben agreed with berwick while belle vue were undecided and didn't want to risk his career on whether the colts ran or not
