Mildenhall 2023

It will be very interesting to see how George does in the NDL.  I watched him in all his home meetings (and one or two away) and he really struggled last year.

Totally agree though with most, saying his average is ridiculously low.  Although, having said that, he was nowhere near a 4pt Champ Ave rider.

Of the same opinion all for commonwealth riders getting a spot to fill the spots so to speak on those higher averages. But this is taking advantage of the system and is very poor imo.

I know there’s a rider not been announced by another team who’s coming in on double his championship average. Roynon last year came in on double his so the question needs to asked and answered from either Mildenhall themselves or the BSPA.

Hook is a lot better than Congrave, to be fair.

Ready to fire for the Fen Tigers, it's time to pull the trigger ...

Our fourth signing for the 2023 season is 16 year old former British 500cc Youth Champion Ben Trigger.

Hailing from Plymouth Ben started his National Developement League career during the 2021 season with Leicester averaging 3.57. He then moved to his home town club for the 2022 season making big strides and putting 2.43 onto his average to record a 6 point season average.

He will double up with Plymouth in the Championship for 2023 and big things are expected from this stylish youngster. We are very pleased to have Ben join the Mildenhall DJS Fen Tigers, proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery and look forward to seeing him develop further at Mildenhall this year. Let's give Ben a big Fen Tiger welcome!

True, but just looking for some clarification on how they come to such an average. As any other riders who’s dropped down average has doubled for the NDL but Congreve only gets 0.5 added to his.

This is taking advantage of the system which is completely what letting commonwealth riders back in wasn’t supposed to be for. Pretty sure there several brits on a similar average that could’ve filled this spot.

Why would Mildenhall need to answer why he's on a 4.5? I'd imagine the club asked what his average will be. They've then said what they have. We've signed him on that average within the rules set. Any club would have done the same.

To maybe clarify why a commonwealth rider is coming in on 4.5 average perhaps. Instead of 8.00 like others.

Absolute joke if true.

No objection to Commonwealth riders coming in to strengthen up teams, but a 4.00 Championship rider is 8.00 in the NDL.

A 4.00 CL British rider would drop into NDL on 8.00.    Should be the same for a foreigner.   Why on earth should we be giving advantages to foreigners over our own?

Roynon who had a 3.00 Champ average, dropped down to the NL & his average was doubled to 6.00. No idea why the same hasn't happened here?

Not the only one, as it’s happened this winter to a rider. But for some reason in this case it hasn’t.

Doesn't he have an ACU licence though. He represented Great Britain in some pointless (as most of his meetings were) FIM meeting. I think he was only a 4 in the CL so the Diamonds appeared somewhere close to the points limit.

Effectively he's not a commonwealth rider if that's the case. As he hasn't ridden in any official fixtures he should be assessed the same as any other new ACU licensed rider in the NL.

In true speedway regulation fashion they've done neither of the two plausible options and gome up with a compromise.

Congreve didn't have a CL average though.  All his meetings were expunged from the records. To all intents and purposes he has never existed as a speedway rider in this country before 2023.

No it's to help Midenhall run hope supporters turn up ,can't see many traveling from New Zealand support your local lads

I’m sure they could’ve found a Brit on that average would’ve been different if his average wasn’t so low.

That theory doesn't hold water.  He was assessed on 4.00 for Championship.  So he should be 8.00 in NDL.

If he had British credentials he'd have started on 2.00 in the Championship like Connor Bailey did at Glasow.

Agreed would be interested to know how a commonwealth rider who has a championship average of 4.00 joins the NDL on a 4.50. Considering I know there’s another commonwealth rider who average is basically double.

Sure he done a nl level meeting mayb a individual at Mildenhall and didn't score, better younger brits about don't think he will average 5

Always amazes me when clubs say they may not be able to afford to run next year and then a few weeks later are building a potentially title winning side  great that they are coming to the tapes though of course.

Also not their fault but Congreve's average is farcical!

Completely agree with all the comments here. Definitely looks like a line up that should get numbers through the turnstiles though. Only went to Mildenhall once this year due to the issues previously mentioned but this team will make me give it another go in the upcoming season. Just hope they get it right because people will return if that’s the case.
