racers and royals
Part of a google translation of an interview with Onesport`s Karol Lejman Did you consider the presence of supporters in the stands? In the initial concept, we didn't think about the fact that the fans would be able to enter the stadiums. All our puzzle and TSEC 2020 project has been tailored to start and give the opportunity to watch the speedway fans on television. In fact, this is still the case at the moment, because we still do not know when and how many fans we will be able to admit to the competition. Although this has been officially announced, there is no regulation yet. We don't know how it will look formally. I understand that you will fight for supporters in the stands? Sure. We are just waiting for a regulation. As soon as it appears, we are ready to act. From day to day we can start communication of individual rounds and sale of tickets. We are prepared to meet safety requirements and allow fans to enter the stadiums. Of course, we very much hope that from our first event, i.e. from July 4, it will be possible.

But then I guess One Sport know they aren't going to sell many tv packages in Finland on the back of him being in the series. Like the GP Series, the European Championship is another series, where you are selected if your face fits and/or if we can make money of the back of you being in the series. It`s good that different GP riders will be WC`s for the 5 rounds. Don`t forget that GP riders are allowed to do the SEC qualifiers but not be series wild cards. So i reckon it`s an acceptable compromise.

It would be better for the sport to have new up and coming names in the Euro's as wild cards. Cant see much benefits in this other than Zmarzlik should a have a relatively easy pay day by riding in the final heat... May be this is just me. And I wasn't after Lahti's inclusion. The organisers have him where they want him...
