Might be mistaken but the tractor at Sheffield looks very much like the one at Blackbird Road in the 1970's and 1980's. Built to last, those Fergusons.

All the tractors at Sheffield believe belong to Graham the track curator who is a big lover of the old masse ferguson

The pIss take continues. How long until they identify an exciting new site but need the cash out of the Abbey housing to build.

That headline from the Adver  is the same that was issued in a press release  on the 8/11/22 by motorsports or whatever they call themselves

The Adver  have a history of just copy and pasting stuff.

Do they not know that a purpose built site should be built in Swindon directly on the site where Swindon Robins used to race by the very people looking for another site?....

Maybe someone should mention it to them...?

Maybe someone should also mention to them that Speedway fans are actually aware of Osborne's record when it comes to Speedway tracks, and there is very little chance of anyone believing that he is going to do anything at all that benefits our sport. Unless of course it benefits him. And if he has suddenly realised that he can make money out of it he must be really kicking himself for closing all those tracks down! I just cant believe they think everyone is that gullible.

It’s sad that there appears to be no fan organised opposition to the loss of the Swindon robins along the lines of Coventry or Oxford who have had plenty of positive support during their wilderness years

Surely there must be plenty of people with the required skills and passion to drive this forward

An amazing level of apathy...

You can only presume Swindon Speedway isnt worth saving in the eyes of the majority of their fans and promoters..

What planet are those people living on! To think one of them is a credible speedway promoter beggars belief.

They are a joke. Haven't they sold the track equipment as well?. It beggars belief that they think people will will be taken in by their bull crap. Giving some fans false hope after the farce over the Abbey. I'm sure they have had a good Christmas:angry:

They should be made to build the track and stadium at the Abbey site as that is the stipulation legally bound as part of the planning permission..

It doesnt even matter if it is viable or not to run Speedway there, as that is irrelevant as part of any planning permission requirements...

And surely a track "up to 45 mins away" has to have less chance of being "viable" than a brand new one on the very site where Speedway has ran for decades?

Absolutely no guarantee that this track "somewhere else" will be viable so what is there to lose by "staying put"?..

Surely someone is asking these questions within some kind of organised fans' pressure group?

However 'supportive' the local MP is/has been, surely if there is no supporters group actively campaigning for speedway at the Abbey, then one can see that support diminish very quickly.

What happened to those banner wavers that turned up at Blunsdon to protest some weeks ago?

Maybe Osbourne knows he has to build a track, so why not build one miles out of town, that will tick all the boxes!  Then he has the present site to build more houses & pocket more ££££'s. Meanwhile making sure Osbourne PLC. hold the freehold to the new site as another longer term money earner.

I'm sure "Ba____ds" like Osbourne are 2 or 3 steps ahead of the rest of us including the local council!

I doubt he will build a track/stadium within 45m of Swindon, more likely he will try to appeal the planning condition that says the stadium must be built. In 5, 10, 15 years down the line he will claim that speedway is no longer a viable sport in or around Swindon and therefore there is no longer a need for a speedway stadium. Whether the council will have much fight in them in 5, 10, 15 years time, I have my doubts. Terry Russel has taken the money(just like he took loads of money out the sport for brokering a tv deal), he has been lying for a long time and is just as bigger a crook as Osbourne.
