So the latest news is they need  more planing permission that the  Council is  unlikely to give them so they  will  have to re submit them meaning even more delays meaning no speedway next year .As Normal Tomlinson tries to dress this up as good news. It's amazing the housing never  had any of these problems..

What the news article actually says….  https://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/20588748.hope-swindons-abbey-stadium-five-new-planning-applications-submitted/

What's your thinking @Steve0 ? Bottom part of the article not that positive. Though if Oxford can get fans back after 15 years then Swindon can after 3. But definitely don't want to be waiting as long as Oxford. The fact they media don't get any contact out of GI doesn’t sound good either.

Why would they need "hope"...?

Surely it is a "given" the track will be built as it is part of the planning consent stipulation.. ?

The MP should just have been asking "when will the track and stadium be built?"...

Surely the fact that the applications have been made by the actual construction company - Taylor Wimpey - is a positive signal?!

Either the MP or GI must have put pressure on Taylor Wimpey to move things along....!

GI will just play the long game until the council relents, Speedway is finished at the Abbey, I'd love to be proved wrong, but it's already 3 years and we've had a perfect summer for building, CO is probably sunning himself abroad somewhere.

By all accounts  Swindon Geyhounds will  shut in Jan..So no Swindon Speedway for the foreseeable future...Just got to wait for Swindon Speedway and Tomlinson statement about searching for a new venue that has no chance of happening but will   be liked by the same fools who thought the Stadium would be built.Gaming int have done  it again.and closed another speedway track down

Where has this been confirmed about Greyhounds ending in January at Swindon, thought it was their main site? I feel for Swindon fans, I worry we will soon also be in a very similar situation with GI behind it all. The councillors really need to wake up to what’s happening.

So the question is, if Gaming International don't run dogs anymore across the speedway venues why not give up the lease at Swindon & Poole + Readings derelict site?

Sad news if true, but I won't be surprised.

The situations at Poole and Swindon are different! GI Own the Swindon site but only lease the Poole site from BCP Council.

Btw don't greyhounds always take a Winter break in January??

Yeah I've already given Tomlinson the warning about what happens to speedway stadium sites when they can't get planning permission for housing. Won't be long now.

You can see an email being sent about a "failure to secure the site"...

I am sure that will be sufficient....

According to Reading council, Reading's derelict site is now owned by a development company. GI only ever leased the land from the council.

Bloody dogs life, eh?

Edit: Good luck to Swindon. I have happy memories of many visits to the Abbey and look forward to future speedway matches there.
I've found it very hard to follow the twists and turns of the story at Brandon. And believe me, I've tried. Trying to unravel the complications surrounding the Swindon stadium is beyond me. I really hope it can have a happy outcome.
