The statement on the Lions website said " the club have a contingency plan for the early weeks of the season " & goes on to say " the Lions will not start their official programme until that stage (22 April ) although there will be track action at BP in other competitions prior to that April 22nd date". By other competitions i'm thinking, if they are running a cubs side, they will take those early dates. Also i'd imagine a challenge match will take place as a warm-up, possibly against Sheffield, which should attract a big crowd with Nikki Pedersen riding for the opposition. Lions would need to strengthen for that anyway, so guests could be used for the Thompsons.

Team of entertainers though for sure! Don’t think Howarth and proctor are exciting at all tbh

It’s quite simple really...
flagrag
As featured in the press release Leicester Lions will not start their home official fixtures until the Thompson twins are eligible to ride. There will be Cubs meetings and a challenge match. Now that Newcastle have been confirmed their participation the league fixtures can be planned and if there is a substantial amount of away fixtures before mid April then short term options will be looked at depends on which clubs want to ride Leicester and when Edited November 24, 2019 by flagrag

Let’s hope the owners make it so

A win-win situation for the owners, potential big crowds at both venues to allow fans to see the return of Pedersen.
Elmo
Last time Pedersen rode at Leicester was in the Magnus testimonial meeting at the start of 2012, so he is due a return lol

Tis only a challenge match after all Actually I think a match or a meeting that is a celebration of the 2019 successes would be a good way to help start things off - show off all the silverware on one occasion, and have as many as possible of the 2019 riders involved. Maybe a Lions team of Nicholls, Perks, Douglas, Proctor, R.Worrall, Mountain, Bates against a Cubs side that includes Morris, Howarth, Hume, and a few tasty guests? Would also be a chance to bid a proper farewell to Scott Nicholls.
IronScorpion
Ryan Douglas wins Queensland Solo Championship. Qualified with 13 points then won his semi & final. Jake Allen was the top qualifier with 14 points then winning his semi & 2nd in final https://australianspeedwayriders.com/live-updates?fbclid=IwAR0SxfFmxM5qDP2MfLvGPpi2N6erAlxfhKdxpWVClvt09rq5qNwy8S_gjPU

Triple.H.
There must be a clause about Australians with British Patriality who rode at what is in reality 3rd division level ( As the league has had so many names over the years ) and any reduction due. Weeyin
Do Aussies not get the reduction if they are riding on a British passport and have ridden in NL ? Nick Morris initially rode on a british passport and had the choice of riding for GB or Australia and he chose Australia.
Teromaafan
Looking at the Lions team structure for next year I think we should be more concerned with the No.5 position rather than No.1. The No.5 is paired with a reserve apart from Heat 13, so if we are saying there is no pressure on the twins, then whoever is at No.5 is going to have to consistently deliver. On a more general note, why does the rider with the highest average have to ride at No.1, when Heat 8 is the only 'protected' race? For many teams, there is only a few hundredths of a point between their top two anyway. The current Heat format to me seems little different to when I first followed the sport in the early 70's, when your reserves were at 6 & 7 and you could do what you liked with the riding order of the other five. Hamish McRaker
Who will be the Lions captain? There is no obvious choice. If either of the Thompson boys has to miss a match or two through injury, will the Lions have a 2-pointer up their sleeve ready to stand in?
