More of a general comment that all events/sports will struggle massively with hospitality over the next couple of years. Hope you're well. Appreciate the explanation, As you well know there are a large minority on here who moan about nothing being done and do a full 180 when something is. At least they now know how to get to Blackburn Meadows. , .The thing with this , as a conference facility, is it doesn't just rely on race night hospitality, although provides an excellent opportunity for that. With the brilliant views of the track from it the stadium owners are continuing to embrace the Tigers brand and deserve credit for this, as do Damien, Peter and Julie for continuing the excellent relationships with them. Keep the faith and stay safe. Edited May 5, 2020 by Mr Ore

The Third Man
From the Sheffield Web Site SHEFFIELD co-promoter Peter Mole insists plans are going ahead for the reintroduction of speedway at Owlerton in August. But Mole, a West Midlands-based businessman, also says there is a lot of work to do to ensure spectators can safely enjoy the racing once the green light is given by the government. Most club bosses throughout the UK believe social distance measures are possible in their venue and signage has already been put up at Scunthorpe including restricted numbers in the paddock. Mole said: “The stadium are confident it could be made a COVID-19 friendly venue; it’s got so much open space and it would be a case of working out the safely designated standing areas per group of supporters who entered. “The pits aren’t the biggest at Sheffield but we could find a way around that by extending them temporarily like we do on the bigger events and also by restricting the amount of people who can be in there at any one time. “Then there’s other things like one way entrances, exits and walkways and a list of other things we’d need to ensure were in place as well; not necessarily insurmountable but there’s so much which would require a lot of close consideration. “We have a great relationship with our landlords at Owlerton and we will work closely with them to ensure the sport can restart at the appropriate time – but we don’t want to fill fans with over the top enthusiasm because there is work to do.”
Charlieboy
With the back strait open at sheffield I think it makes it more doable as we won’t fill the stadium. I think most premier teams stadiums are doable to be fair but not sure about Wolverhampton! Can they use there back strait? Hopefully we can get some racing soon even if it’s only one home one away. Can’t believe how good the weather has been on Thursdays this year but soon as we start we know that’s not going to last !!!
stevebrum
Any thoughts on who the rider who might not be back this year according to the recent update? Nicki P still on board as I’d assumed it would be him.

poolebolton
Im going to hedge my bets and say Chris Holder. Brother is present, TruPlant big holder sponsor, Poole asset so I'm sure Ford will say no worries to replace Josh G. Too many ticks to not be him.

Kurtz earned 120K for leszno last year and made 30k profit if that translates. So might be only taking 50ish home a point. 1 meeting a week not making that much. The Third Man
From the Sheffield web site SHEFFIELD co-owner Damien Bates is remaining positive and upbeat about prospects for racing next month – and is far from ready to throw in the towel.Bates admits there are still hurdles to overcome before seeing the Tigers on track, but news of Stock Car racing going ahead later this month at Ipswich with a crowd in attendance has lifted hopes.Said Bates: “I’m a realist and a restart will never be straightforward, but I’m certainly hopeful and more optimistic now than I have been for a few weeks.“It feels like there is genuine light at the end of the tunnel, and I can assure everyone my colleagues on the board of the British Speedway Promoters Ltd are working around the clock to offer some sort of league season for our fans.“I must emphasise at no stage have we ever lost sight of the fact that the health and safety of our supporters, sponsors and track staff is of paramount importance, but I believe there is a way we can make this season happen.”
Ringitsneck
If the news of Newcastle closing because of the COVID threat to the dogs running then surely all stadiums that stage dog racing are under the same threat?

Pinny
You have to feel that Pedersen maybe looking at the future now. His league form has dropped off alarmingly after his first couple of meetings and he is hardly getting younger. Combine that with the Corona Virus and potential uncertainty of the sport for the next few seasons and you can hardly blame him. Shame as after seeing him in his first few meetings he looked as keen and sharp as ever. After all the injuries he has had, it would be good to see him walk away as one of this eras best riders, with a huge bank balance and full health. Like him or hate him, he has been absolutely superb during the last 20 years and his one world title (07?) was as dominant a world title winning season as you'll ever see.

Yep , and has undoubtedly pulled off some silly moves over the years but the GPs are worse off without him and the sport as a whole will be when he decides to hang up his kevlars.
