Glasgow 2021

Recommended Posts

The piece where George explains how the family and the club have helped him turn his life around, that's probably bigger than any trophy the club could win.

Excellent documentary. For me, had it focused solely on racing and results I would have been bored. It was interesting to see it from supporters' angles. I would like to have seen / heard more, just like everybody else, riders talking about travelling, tactics in the pits, changing room banter, post-meeting discussions, riders preparations, the promotions thoughts on the future, the list could go on, but there's no way you would fit it into an hour and a half.

The last time I saw George was after Brum v Glasgow meeting back in 2008 when the coach driver refused to let him board his trip back to Glasgow as he'd had too much to drink(he hadn't):rolleyes:He's come a long way since those days!:t:

Thoroughly enjoyable documentary from folk I know very well from years past;)

Watched it today and found it very enjoyable, with this season looking like it may never start. Maybe it gives other promotors the opportunity totry and do a bit of promotion, now wouldnt that be novel, get some kids involved and start making their own versions for the 2021 season. I was very impressed with Peter Facenna's dignity in defeat at the final hurdle and the fact he thanked all the riders, mechanics, volunteers and fans for their efforts and help over the season

Iwatched the film yesterday and also enjoyed it. Well done to the Facennas for everything they have achieved to date.

Could any Glasgow fans give an estimate as to what attendances have been achieved. The film commented that new fans were attending every week, but the various camera shots didn't give a particularly good indication of 'big crowds' - in fact attendances looked quite sparse at times apart from the very vocal group of 'super fans'!!!

Just watch the Documentary, can’t really fault it.Very professional and gave an good insight into the sport and a season review of the Tigers. The promotion deserve a lot of praise on their efforts to raise the profile Speedway.
PS.

  • Still can’t figure out how Craig Cook got away without a ban after the Eastbourne fiasco.(must have had Alex Salmonds lawyer IMO)

Very good film, well done. Glasgow deserve credit for what they have done at the stadium and club. Sad bit is it’s astonishing at how much they put in the club and how much they are losing. No a great business!

i thought Glasgow were making a profit .    gates going up  week on week !

Well I found that to be a great hour and a half’s watch, really enjoyed it. The main thing I got from it was the family’s desire to give something back to the area in which they grew up. I’ve not been since 2009 and what a transformation the stadium and track has undergone, and what a professional outfit the club is. The best bit was the visit to the home of the bloke with the track in his garden :D

Just one criticism, not enough Paulco

Crowds have improved recently(2019) as the track improvements have produced better racing. First time visitors more likely to return if the racings like last year. Still room for improvement with lengthy tractor breaks and presentation but its really dream land for us just now. Very few huge home wins maybe shows how fair the tracks now become too.

One of the best Speedway videos I have seen. Struck the perfect balance between racing and the human element. Every track should strive to match the way this promotion treats its customers whilst maintaining a professional approach and a desire to win without having the extreme “win at all costs” attitude which pervades too many tracks these days. It was a bit like going back before the “me” culture of the mid 1980’s kicked off the rot which has led to a steady decline in the sport ever since.

good luck to the Glasgow organisation, they deserve all the success possible. Any locals who see this will surely be tempted to go along to sample what is on offer themselves. And that my friends is what should be the absolute priority of ALL promoters.
