The more expanded statement in Speedway Star says the discussions with GI are ongoing particularly regarding exactly what facilities GI will have open and staffed and which ones Poole Speedway will need to operate themselves. Matt Ford states that he would be prepared to run speedway without the glass grandstand/restaurant/bars open!!!!!!

SteveLyric2
A good read in this week's Speedway Star - Part one of an interview with former (Pirates and Rebels) promoter Mike Golding. Part two next week. Also a feature on Stefan Neilsen.

Steve Shovlar
Just thought I would wake up the thread. No news or anything to say, other than wishing everyone a merry Christmas, with the hope that we can start next season on time with fans allowed inside stadiums. Oh, and Pirate dominance of course.
ray c
It will be interesting to see how the stadium will run next year with no dogs now .surely we will need more than speedway to make the business viable.we shall see

Interestingly, depending on what Stadia UK may introduce, it gives the Pirates some additional race night options if required.

It may come down to what matt wants to pay for the facilities which will be on offer Edited December 11, 2020 by ray c

Not sure if that means total closure of the glass stand or just the food and beverage areas? (That may create a challenge for him as to what and where the matchday sponsors as well as fans get to unless the Champs Bar is put to greater use - although obviously you can't see the racing from there?!). Presumably there may be an option for the Club to provide and pay for the staff necessary on a match by match basis? In many ways although very sad it will be a relief for Neil, Susie and family knowing that Ken's suffering with dementia is now over. R.I.P. Pirates Of Poole
I wonder now, with all the major changes with rider availability and the likely hood of a weaker product, will the Poole managing choose to return to the top flight for 2021 to boost the numbers? Cost wise and points limit wise, in the top flight (just an example) we could track the same 6 as we know Ellis isn’t available and replace him with someone like Chris Holder? We know Chris would cost more than Adam, but with the additional tv money on the table surely this would make it a level playing field on budgets? Last year, it was down to the losses of 2019 (N1CC - as reported in the echo this week £21,000) and breaking even, surely a much weaker top flight would be more viable for Poole?

OveFundinFan
But the vac rollout is scheduled to finish in autumn. If I was you get ready to be disappointed, no Speedway until late in the year, maybe non like last year (except for a few events). BSPA should be planning for different scenarios including full season and a very short season. If it’s a short season meaning meetings twice a week, are people going to be able to afford £20 plus per meeting? Streaming will be a necessity, with £8 max, but Speedway promoted to encourage more viewers.
