Hamish McRaker
What Wolves are doing is akin to a mother who gives birth to a child but buys a double baby buggy and uses it as a way of "incentivising" the child to behave itself. False dawn
So Wolves have one place still to fill. The conventional wisdom is this is going to be Sam Masters. But. If it was going to be Sam, wouldn't they have announced it already? By my reckoning, that would leave 1.86 points left wanting. So. Are the Wolves management, Peter Adams in particular, with his huge experience and association with the very best in the sport, still holding on to the slim hope that a certain former World Champion can be enticed back as part of his swan song? His last British, top tier average fits nicely into 9.21 left. I'm just whistling in the wind, but hey. You never know.

The other point of view is if you were Masters would you hang on to see if you were second choice with the possibility of no Prem spot or would you look to sign for another club who are still looking for a rider with your average while there are team places left.To me Masters is deffo Wolves bound. Or Masters could have told them to go swivel after being treated as 2nd/3rd choice if he knew other tracks wanted him. The delay in announcing him 'could' point to that and that they're desperately scrabbling around trying to find someone to fill the last place

Masters won’t be left without a PL team spot tho, as Ippo, Lynn and Boro still have places to fill and you can be sure Masters, CVS and other clubs know what the situation is. However you look at it Masters will know he was 2nd choice because it’s been confirmed CVS spoke to Greg and Fred about the number one spot and I suspect others. Im sure Masters knows the plans for next season. In an interview in SS a few weeks ago he said he was hoping to have a top flight deal and hinted that nothing was confirmed so I think it’s clear he isn’t 1st choice which will either motivate him to do better or make him resent Wolves. Either way unless we get a major shock I too expect Masters to be re-signed.

Tommy Sweetman
Doesn't Sam come from Newcastle in Aus.Really hope everything is ok there, but the latest report says very high risk of bushfires in that area. My sister lives in Queensland, and they had the fire's in October.Just feel so sorry for the heartache this catastrophic event has caused to people down under.

No. Truth is and people wont admit it but it's the truth. CVS & Adams don't want Masters in the 1-7 but maybe forced into using him due to everyone else turning Wolves down. CVS & Adams holding out hope somebody is willing to do Britain. Masters is the back up plan that Wolves will more than likely be forced into using. If Masters knows Wolves are only signing him because they can't get a top rider & he's now the best available, he could ask for more money, knowing Wolves have dug themselves into a hole!

We don’t know the full story from their comments however. Masters will know exactly where he stands, and as he isn’t a Wolves asset he can announce if he isn’t happy or not. So he clearly knows he is fixed up either at Wolves (highly likely or likely Peterborough) CVS said he would be happy to have 6 of the 7 back from last season. He also said that they have spoken to other top end riders. Its an assumption that it was either Masters or another rider. We don’t actually know who the top line rider was meant to be in place of. Just because Masters isn’t announced its being assumed he is 2nd best. That we don’t actually know.
