Some teams have managed to spark some interest and enthusiasm... and good luck to them.  My team, no such thing, same old same old... If Jake comes over and rides for someone else, that'd be the final straw for me. I've never felt so despondent going into a new season. Think my time as a supporter/volunteer is coming to an end.

What uk clubs are loyal?? It’s a business like everything these days, how many riders were ripped last year with promises of season start times ,what is a speedway contract worth??? Not much, good luck to any rider who can get more money or a better deal in another club, that’s how they can afford to compete, that’s my opinion

But you have sparked a definite interest...

If you can find two mopeds reinforced and strong enough to lug two fat old farts like me and RG round the track then I'm in... might have more luck with two mobility scooters... they are greener...

But on a serious note not a bad idea... and I am deffo in...

Oh and two wide load signs for across our backs...

Think the track record could be in danger !!!

If Jake Allen ends up at Redcar alongside Charles Wright thats two Heat15s we can kiss goodbye to now ! Home & Away !

So somewhere in the preceeding 14 Heats were are going to need to find a way somehow ? To have sufficient leeway in those meeting to take a 1-5 and still be in front ! ..Mmmmmm ???

I know !!! can Jordan Palin take 7 rides because I seriously fancy Jordan to be our Scorpion of most resistence this season !

Unfortunately I've heard the same...   That's me...I'm done... Scunny Speedway 50 years old today, it's played a major part of my life...   I started supporting in 1974. Volunteering since the rebirth in 2005... Anyone want a crack at Incident Recording/Timekeeping get your applications in to the promotion...  Its a good crack, you'll see sides to speedway general supporters don't see...  And  you get the best seat in the house!  Over n out!

Puzzled by some of the negativity.

After 18 months with odd challenge match, I can't wait for league speedway to return.  Nice, exciting team put together for the new season - it will be so interesting to watch the progress of Jordan Palin.  Bring it on!

Somerset supporters would love to be in the position that Scunthorpe find themselves - with a new season ahead and with the Josh Auty testimonial lined up for March 2022, we're also pretty much guaranteed next season as well!

Agree it will be great to see some speedway again but another season of josh auty not so exciting when you could have jake allen if you were a tad more ambitious.

It's a shame about Jake and I do understand the disappointment in losing him as along with Jordan probably only two bright spots in an underwhelming team . So to loose him and bring in a reserve is never going to be a crowd pleaser but I do feel that speedway should be the winner in 2021 rather than worrying to much about who wins the we used the best guests and rider replacements league. Bring on 2022

I think this season is a akin to a complete freebie as far as our Promoters are concerned. They know after 18 months of zero compeitive action the supporters will take pretty much anything ?

Even if Scunny ran out a 1972 reboot of the Saints disastrous debut League season. We'll take it just to have regular speedway back in our lives.?

We know that seeing this season through is what its about and no matter if the Scorpions take a thumping here and there. Because we surely will.

We have no idea how the riders are going to be when they resume their interrupted careers ? I honestly think we will see some struggle in the first couple of months. So a No1 on paper might not be No1 on the track.

Scunny have two riders in Jordan Palin and Josh MacDonald who could genuinely claim to have been a Speedway riders through the enforced sabaticle. The rest were delivery drivers or operatives for benevolent sponsors ? So its all up in the air when the tapes go up !, in two weeks.

We might just be writing off the Scorpions too soon ? But it should be interesting finding out ?

Hull Vikings fans wouldn't complain too much either.  A team full of great riders would be brilliant for fans of every club, but I guess the main thing for 2021 is to get a competitive league season up and running, then take it to and from 2022....

Great to see Josh Macdonald on the plane over here as I write this along with a few fellow Aussies. Hopefully can get his isolation done and some laps in around the Eddie Wright raceway In preparation for competitive speedway at last !

SIMON Lambert has been named Scunthorpe Scorpions captain for the upcoming season.

It’s a huge honour for the Lincolnshire-based racer who re-joined the club for his second spell midway through the 2019 campaign.

A string of solid performances from Lambert meant he secured a place in the Scorpion’s side for the following year before league racing was cancelled amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Following the departure of Jake Allen the experienced Brit will now take over as club captain for 2021, but he is no stranger to the role having been skipper at Boston and Peterborough in years gone by.

A delighted Lambert said: “I am very honoured and proud to be named captain of Scunthorpe this year. It’s not only a proud moment for me but also my family.

“It’s great news for my sponsors and fans who have supported me throughout my career. I will be doing my very best to keep the team spirit high within the team. I will be behind all the boys 100 per cent and who knows we might be able to lift a trophy by the end of the year.

“It’s a massive boost for me before the start of the season and like I say, it is a big and proud moment for me having been captain at Peterborough and Boston before now. I can’t wait to get going and lead the team for the first time against Plymouth on May 21.”

Great to see Simon given the captaincy and totally deserves it with his vast experience just expected it be Josh to be honest

Cannot help but feel a bit gutted now Jakes late change of mind sees him join Redcar. But he wasnt making the trip so I suppose we moved on.

Some line up for Bears with Charles Wright, MPT and Jordan Stewart. Redcar must be up there as one favourites this season.

In Jake, Wright and MPT they have three top riders in this league and EWR specialists.

But just reading Robs quick statement it does seem that we could have included Jake. It maybe wasnt as had been intimated down to money ?. Its a big statement of loyalty to the riders we have. No doubt Jakes inclusion makes us far more competitive therefore better for business home and away. Applaud Robs loyalty but we will find out soon enough if its misplaced.

Lets hope that Robs loyalty is rewarded by the riders. I think this means come hell or high water we have to stick with the starting line up bar injury. Otherwise if we do what we normally do and bin off an out of form rider inside 6 weeks ! This decision to allow Jake to bolster a rival into potential Champions is going to look plain ludicrous ?

Now is not the time to be bitter  , I wish Jake Allen all the best for the season and remember a speedway riders career is a short one so he had a change of heart and I expected it to be fair as I’m sure he house shares with Jordan Stewart of the Bears while he is in the Uk . In fairness if as reported someone offered me a pay rise for my services I would think like Jake and take it . Let’s just enjoy 14 riders racing 15 heats and hope for good racing and all riders stay injury free
