IronScorpion
“The Showground will remain fully operational until at least the end of 2022, with all facilities open for business until that point. “From 2023 onwards it is likely there will be a phased withdrawal of facilities at the Showground over a number of years starting from the edges of the Showground. So 2/3 years for the speedway seems about right to me... Isn't the stadium almost in the centre of the showground? Does this mean that the whole area will be made smaller with the perimeter fencing brought in to develop the area for whatever means? Yeah the speedway track and grandstand is pretty much in the center. I would guess that bringing the fencing inwards and selling off the outskirts in sections would make the most sense. jenga
once that perimeter fence goes up. there will be no access to joe public as it could contravene health and safety in or around a building site . going by the look of the centre green (ish ) on tv , it looks like they have started the work already . what a pig sty that was ! That was due to a rather large circus size tent being there for 4 weeks for an event. There was a stage inside as well as many many people. The dwindling numbers attending is going to be the final nail in the coffin of UK speedway. Less fixtures, less paying supporters can only result in one thing. Not only at Peterborough. A comment that deserves thought. Edited September 12, 2019 by Guest spelling error

NeilWatson
The first image shows tenting over the main ring, the second (much older) image gives an indication of where the track sits on the site, incidentally the disused car track can be seen at the bottom of the second image. Edited September 12, 2019 by NeilWatson Added second image

Why on earth did they have to put it up there, there's loads of grass apart from the centre green????

No idea. The entire showground was filled with tents and marquees though from start to finish - so my guess is that it was a central location to everyone camping that would be easy to locate and also easy to manage because of the perimiter fencing etc. It did look awesome though - it was a serious bit of kit. However, it was the Land Rovers Owners show Saturday and Sunday just gone - so I would imagine the center green to be completely finished off now! My first thought were why put it on the centre green but as you say, I looked at the overall pic and the place was filled with tents etc so can see why they used it, whatever they did speedway was a nono unfortunately

maneacat
Some good news reported in the local news today. Truckfest has signed an agreement to hold its festival at the Eoes for the next five years. If that’s happening no reason why speedway cannot continue imo.
