Paul
As this forum is about yesteryear, with many memories for me and I am sure for many other members too. Barry Thomas 4. Dave Morton 5. Ross Gilbertson © 6. Brian Foote 7. Steve Schofield 8. Bruce Edgar

Tommy Jansson career cut short as he was becoming the star he would have been 4. Kenny Carter Englands number 1, says so on side o' van 5. Simon Wigg mr entertainment... another much missed 6. Jan O Pedersen superb ability on a bike 7. Erik Gundersen ditto not a fan of the Danes but these 2, but for injury would have outshone Nielsen completely

Shoddy
1. Kenny Carter - My first ever sporting hero. Quality on a bike. 2. Neil Evitts - My second sporting hero!!! In 1986 he showed what he was capable of but for a variety of reasons he never seemed to quite reach his full potential. 3. Sam Ermolenko - the only rider who stopped me plunging into depression at Sheffield when the two divisions merged! 4. Gary Havelock - the most talented young rider I have ever seen. I'm never sure what he would have achieved had it not been for his injury (and also the fact that he missed a whole year through suspension). 5. Hans Nielsen - The best rider I have ever seen. Not really seen Rickardsson since he has become genuinely world class. Gundersen was up there but I don't think he had the consistency that Hans had. 6. Marvyn Cox - When Cocker came to Bradford he was probably slightly past his best but he was so professional and consistent home and away. Something certain other riders at the club lacked at the time and I think he was an important turning point at the club as they turned from strugglers into a side that could win things. 7. Sean Wilson - Has been a quality rider and, just as importantly, captain and role model for young riders at Sheffield since he came back to the club. fatface
1. Chris Morton - brilliant team man, superb from the back 2. Peter Collins - just magic 3. Shawn Moran - most natural rider I've seen 4. Sam Ermolenko - very brave, very exciting 5. Kenny Carter - cocky as hell, but could back it up 6. Mark Loram - never settles for second 7. Richard Green - reckless but brilliant to watch Near misses: Les Collins, Per Jonsson, Larry Ross

Barry Thomas Tommy Jansson Garry Middleton Zenon Plech Anders Michanek Tommy Knudsen Simon Wigg. We managed to agree on 5 of the 7 riders!!! You must have been going around the same time I have. Went to Halifax from 84, Bradford up to 1990 and then stopped going for a while. Picked up back at Sheffield a couple of years later not long after they started running again. If I had stuck with Bradford a bit longer I may have even agreed with Wiggy and Screen. Had to go for Sam though after his fantastic short spell when I started at Owlerton and Hans as he was the class rider over the years I watched top level speedway. Heathcote
Would love to see these 7 racing round Owlerton every week. Hans Nielsen - True Class Kenny Carter - Love and Hate really, Great rider but why couldn't Shawn beat him everytime. Jan O Pedersen - A great man whose talent deserved more success Lance King - Loved watching him ride, What did happen to him? Jim Airey - For anyone who used to follow Sheffield away to see Jim get 18 points and the rest struggle to get 10 between them Sean Wilson - The best captain in the world. 3 great years would not have happened if it wasn't for Sean Roman Matousek - Just for his 2 match race victories over Chris Louis and Jimmy Nilsen. 2 of the most memorable nights I've had watching Sheffield. Probably a bit biased with regards to Sheffield, but it's only a dream team.
Jez
Yeah Shoddy 5 out of 7 isn't to bad to agree on. Had to be really biased though and make 'em all Bradford riders, so even though I thought riders like Shawn & Kelly Moran, Sam Ermolenko, Erik Gundersen were all top riders, not weraing the Dukes race jacket went against them
WATigerman
Shawn Moran Peter Collins Bob Valentine Ole Olsen Sir Ivan (not a fan but he was probably the greatest) Bruce Penhall - who can forget Wembley '81 Hans Nielsen
