Ice Speedway 2019-2020

Recommended Posts

The Under 21 Team Cup Of Russia Final 2 at Izhvesk was cancelled due to a poor track and safety concerns at the Stadium.

Apparently the track was too thin at the edges, the inside line made the bends impossible to negotiate, plus there was no proper run off area that seems to be a feature of the Russian Tracks. There were also complaints about the Stadium in that the changing rooms were too small and the pits couldn't fit in all the bikes safely .

Nikita Tarasov has posted some pics of the track and Pits on Instagram.

The last time they staged a meeting at Ishvesk was 2011. Stadium Improvements are supposed to have been carried out, but the general consensus is that Ice Speedway may never be staged there again.

Apologises to keep banging on about the new FIM Scoring System.

If the scoring system was actual pts then Khomitsevich would have a 1 point lead in the World |Championship yet Ivanov has a 6 pts `Injustice Lead` And Kononov would be 3rd instead of Valeev. How can that be fair!!!!

the latest INJUSTICE TABLE is ..............& I worry for the SGP season. Could go the same way as the 1st SoN Final where GB were robbed by Russia!!!!

I think that the FIM wanted the best of both worlds. The heats all counted to get the best riders in a final, but then introduce a points system that the casual observer could understand, and not one where 1st Place scored less points that 2nd place but won because he won a race.

Steve, I know what you're saying but it's totally hypothetical. Ivanov might have tried harder in some of the heats etc if it was the old scoring system.

Don't know if you follow British Superbikes but they introduced a " showdown" about 10 years ago, without going in to the detail basically it's a manipulation of the points to ensure the championship goes down to the final round. On at least one occasion thereafter the champion would not have been champion if the traditional scoring system had been used. Although others say they didn't deserve their championship I say you can't use ifs buts and maybes to insinuate they were less deserving.

All of course IMHO

Is he going to try for a shot at the Roelof Thijs meeting in April. I need more Brits to snap! :t:

I see that the FIM have now clarified the rule about placings after last week. Finishers of the Semi Finals finish above non-finishers. Points only count when both riders finish or don't finish

Also, I think Eis-Hans is the first Western Rider to have a first pick in a Semi Final, after finishing second in the points standings. I don't think Martin H ever managed that, unless someone knows better?

These new rules are still very strange, but now finally clear to everyone... hopefully. It confused everyone during the past 3 weeks here in Kazakstan and Russia.

Great weekend for Tim Dixon, debut meeting, and after his Bollnäs meeting a gold medal for being part of the  ÖMK League winning side.

Many congratulations Tim.

He will now stay in Sweden to train, before travelling down to Berlin to ride in the German Championship

Disappointed that both Kazakhstan & Finland are contesting the iSoN ahead of The Netherlands who have both Jasper Iwema & Bart Schaap in the ICE Series & a Nation that appear to be bringing along their younger riders. Hopefully 2021 will see either a change or so sort of qualifying system.
