Guest
I am in regular contact with former rider Dave Gifford (New Zealand). Consequently I thought his recollections of speedway days gone by would be of interest. http://www.defunctspeedway.co.uk/Dave Gifford Page.htm Edited August 21, 2019 by Guest
FAST GATER
Remember him" blowing his top" with Gerry Smitherman who was riding at number 2 (GTS Products) at the Port in the mid 70's ten mins later they shook hands and wtched the next race together. A hard but fair rider from my recollections of him , he had a Mini Clubman estate with the bike in the back and the doors held shut with a bungy strap.Happy days no fancy van and an army of pit crew for him , I think it may well have been right at the end of his career . Lefty
And there was wallpaper stuck on the inside of the doors! #62 was a legend at Wolves... especially when he beat Mauger (and Olsen) at Exeter.
