King’s Lynn is a very unique surface, I wouldn’t judge his overall ability on his scores there. No he's not!. Granted 7.23 is his official GSA, but that is heavily influenced by last season with it being based on rolling averages. His starting GSA was 7.66. His average purely on this years official matches (without bonus points) is 6.51, more than a point below his starting average. It's even worse if you include start of season challenge matches!

So, infact,,, anyone that has not retained their average, has performed worse than you think Edited August 24, 2019 by ruffdiamond

Yes he should be scoring more as a heat leader but his score of 5 does not do him justice as he could easily have scored 8-10 being in the mix for all his races but the track was awesome for both teams attacking the multi lines available. On the flip side to that, both Barker & Nielsen were in the mix & could/should have scored more with an unfortunate puncture robbing Nielsen of points. This, also, happened to Wethers in heat 14. Overall, it was a tight meeting, as I expected, with the score line not doing justice to what was served up. Ully was superb for you guys. TJ has been so frustrating. I personally like him but he's doing himself no favours. At the end of the day it's not for the lack of trying as he is so hard on himself when things aren't working out. The annoying thing is that there is a very good rider in there somewhere but sadly hasn't been shown enough. On his day he can beat anyone at championship level and even premiership as he has shown especially around Kings Lynn but we Newcastle fans haven't seen it much.

When TJ rides at Kings Lynn, does he gate well, or does he score points from the back ?
scunny1
What do you expect from TJ when in 3 of his rides he was up against Josh Auty or Jake Allen? Nobody could get anywhere near both of the Scorpions last night including ex Scorpion Capt. Worrall. Nice to see Phillips pick up a point, oh no I forgot, gifted a point! Bottom of the League pushing the Scorpions all the way?? Hahaha hahahaha! What a load rubbish. Scorpions riders rode around Newcastle riders like they were standing still. Don't know where Auty gets that statement from.

Newcastle should have won this meeting but certain riders not up to it. Scunthorpe there for the taking but Newcastle can not hold on to a lead or pass anyone. You should see them at home. Total in charge against Eastbourne last week but totally threw it away.

As I said in an earlier post Lynn has a unique, clay rich surface which makes overtaking very difficult and requires a particular bike set up as the starts are very grippy too. Since he joined Lynn a couple of years ago TJ has been good at home, the surface suits him and he is able to make good starts. The shale used is for the benefit of stock cars which now seems to be the primary sport at the stadium, speedway doesn’t bring in anywhere near as many people or as much revenue so has to play second fiddle. It could be a great racetrack again but only if the type of shale is changed.
