Chris116
The next meeting at Smallbrook Stadium this Thursday at 7pm sees the Fen Tigers from Mildenhall looking to improve on their nine point loss in the Trophy early in the season. Warriors will be fresh from their Silver Ski Four Team tournament win on Monday at Kent but will probably be without Danno Verge after his heat 14 crash with Adam Extance which saw both riders in need of attention and the meeting result called after 13 of the 16 heats had run. My best wishes to both Danno and Adam on a speedy recovery. It looks as though this Thursday should be a close encounter with both sides needing to add to their league points tally. For me personally, it will be my first meeting since Rye House closed and I wish to thank Barry Bishop for his encouragement which has raised my enthusiasm for the sport back to where it has been for over 60 years. The bad news for Barry is that this will be my first meeting as an over 65!

Halifaxtiger
Tough one for the Warriors. Mildenhall are undoubtedly made stronger by the inclusion of Stoneman for Brooks and RR for Edwards, with all others able to take a ride.

It seems a very convenient use of ‘unavailable’ for Brooks when they can use Stoneman. Brooks rides the night after down in Plymouth too.
Dickie Head
Just read the Mildenhall press release. Very convenient that Brooks who was scored 1 gifted point from four rides for Oxford last week is now AWOL / unavailable and his replacement Nathan Stoneman is an Island specialist. I know it is a legal move but strikes me as fishy, especially as he can get to Plymouth the next night. Also note that the press release says Mildenhall have ‘bought in’ Stoneman for the IOW meet. Unfortunate typo.

Very unfortunate but 2 of his rides can be taken by Morley & Campos.

waco
Wood withdrawn from Eastbourne v Birmingham after 3rd ride supposed back injury......iOW will need a top guest tomorrow if they are to have any chance against Mildenhall ,,Clegg,,maybe?.. Dickie Head
Think Cleggs average far too high. Time for the Warriors to do a bit of creative accounting of there own to match that of the visiting team.
HGould
not sure what happened to Wood tonight? won heat 1 despite nearly having his team mate off, then stone last in next 2 rides then cried off with back injury but never fell off? strange if he cries off tomorrow does he get another 7 day illness ban? fishy! Hardly. While his absence at Belle Vue might be subject to question, he won't be the first rider to pull his back while racing. You don't need to fall off to get injured. In addition, I can't see any reason why he might want to miss the Isle of Wight meeting, so this looks entirely genuine to me.
gazzac
You're right, seen it quite a few times when a rider had to be helped off the bike having twisted and injured his back in a race, sure it's genuine.
barrybishop
Wood isnt riding tonight and I am trying everything to get someone somehow here... to say I am totoally and completely gutted is an understatement.... totally gutted. Big crowd, sponsored meeting with sponsors in attendance - meal the works, lots of great people travelling and I am truly, genuinely struggling.... another NL meeting tonight, NL riders covering for riders in high leagues for this meeting has caused us no end of problems plus being on an island is unfortunate in this situation. BUT rest assured, I promise you all I will put everything I have to make this an incredible speedway show for you all... and hey who knows what may happen... but it will be no easy task. Please dont write to me with suggestions for riders for tonight.. we will have tried them and are continuing to do so...
Chris116
I think everyone knows how hard you and team at Smallbrook work to provide a great evening. Very sorry that Danno and Georgie are injured but you are not to blame for that. I wish them both all the best and am still looking forward to seeing you and the racing tonight and for the Belle Vue meeting.
waco
This is going to be hard for IOW tonight ..Georgie Wood is a massive loss ,,it is doughtfull if a good enough guest can be found at short notice,, and R/R will leave only Ben Morley good enough to cover,,,just one ride......Danno Verge too will be missed as his form has been improving this season, hopefully he will make a quick recovery from his nasty crash at Kent ,,,Mildenhall too have to make changes but some of them seem to be beneficial.. hopefully all the IOW lads can rise to what is a difficult task...
