The Bandits will have a seat at the table on the board for the proposed "Berwick Sports Foundation" which I believe will operate Shielfield Park rather than current leaseholders BRFC SC in order to be eligible for government funding, if all goes to plan. ? If they do not think they can get back into the Scottish senior leagues why not move to the English Northern League with opportunities to progress up the English pyramid A lot of Northern non league clubs pay more than Berwick, despite crowds not being to dissimilar, would still be hard attracting players. Only plus side would be banking on better Scottish players wanting to travel down to Berwick to hopefully “be seen” in an English league. I believe any grants would be for the stadium and surrounding community facilities at Shielfield rather than to BRFC itself, hence the proposed Berwick Sports Foundation which would take over the lease of Shielfield with BRFC SC (SC) distancing themselves from it to gain eligibility for funding. Not sure what level of the English football pyramid Berwick would have to join but assume that it's something like the Northern Alliance. I would respectfully suggest that is something way below Lowland League - or East of Scotland League for that matter - level and might be quite a hard sell to players and the public alike. There must be a way around the grant system as the likes of Newport, Swansea, Cardiff and Wrexham have, over the years, not seemed to struggle from being in the English Football League. Think the important focus of the plan is that Shielfield could become a genuine asset and focal point for sport in Berwick rather than a football ground which also stages speedway.

Thankfully moving to the English pyramid was never up for consideration. aye the town is in dire need of it too, hopefully the plans come to fruition unlike the previous regimes new stadium aspirations. I get the reason why Leon has been stopped from riding for Newcastle but it's two different competitions and as long as there was no fixture clashes I would've thought a young rider getting track time would be encouraged rather than blocked.
