Scunthorpe v Berwick 05.07.2019

Recommended Posts

I guess the score line doesn't suggest as much...however, what a quality meeting, some fantastic racing on show.

All Scunny riders performed well, all producing race wins. Pick of the bunch and perhaps man of the match was Simon Lambert, constantly in the thick of the action...the win over Doolan in a stupendous heat 12 being the highlight of the meeting. Danny Ayres also worth singling out,  paid 15 from 6,  brilliant, what an impact he's had since joining Scunny.  All the other Scorpions put in solid effort in what proved a comfortable home win.

Really impressed with Kevin Doolan tonight, he was worth the admission money alone, his heat 3 win was pretty special, a fantastic ride, a brilliant race.  Backed up by Aaron Summers, who got better as the meeting progressed... and to a lesser extent Coty Garcia. Unfortunately, Etheridge, Gappmaier and Edwards, despite giving their best, got very little to show for their efforts.

Never been his biggest fan but I hope either Simon reads this or someone from his team or family does and tells him. Absolutely superb performance him and Doolan certainly the guys of the night. More scores like that from Lambert and he'll be up there with Ayres in turning the Scorpions season round.

Made the trip down last night and thoroughly enjoyed the meeting. As much as I would have loved an away win, it was not to be with the Scorpions all riding well. Was a couple of outstanding heats last night with that young lad Doolan in the thick of the action tremendous. Quick mention for our guest Jason Edwards put in a heleful lot of effort for little reward looks a good prospect. Chips & Curry Sauce and pre-match pint vey nice as well.

Even though it was a big win for the Scorpions it was still an entertaining meeting especially the races featuring Doolan and latterly Summers, Doolan was a revelation but his 7th ride was probably a race too far, Summers just got better, Garcia was in good scoring positions but couldn't stay there, Gappmaier had one good race but Etheridge had a poor night, all the Scorpions rode well, good home debuts for Barker and Lambert and Ayres is becoming the signing of the year.
