Is that why 6 riders are not there. I wonder if this will be the end of this idea being televised Can't see it lasting long......Totally embarrassing listening to Tatum and Pearson trying to talk up this boring, worthless crap. I DID enjoy the rider interviews though...........NOT! Absolute waste of time in my opinion.

Col
Thought it was still going on as Torun v Gorzow got underway. Had been checking the SGP site between heats expecting results to appear. Laguta quickest, the Lindback & Madsen. Lindgren the slowest if the regulars who attended. #1 is reasonable draw for Lambert considering. Always out on a fresh track, reasonable time between heats. waytogo28
I watched again but remain unconvinced that it has any substantial bearing on what happens in the following GP. Perhaps Zagar summed it up correctly. Until we see a rider or two actually gain an advantage from being in the top few of qualifying, it remains as not adding much value. It just gives riders a chance to say "I am happy with the track" - even though they are likely far from so and the gating fest it provides! The only added value is if a GP point was given to the fastest qualifier.
James Carter
I think the lack of practice / qualifying will impact Woffinden tonight. Wasn't getting out of the gate very well last night in Wroclaw and with unfavorable grids today could be tough night. I think for some riders qualifying will prove to be very important. Dudek who is probably best gater in world has got 2 x grid 2s with the wildcard and Lambert inside him. So in effect he's more or less got 3 grid ones. Probably make the same case for Laguta who again relies on his gate so qualifying for him I expect is a big deal
OveFundinFan
So, we have Dudek probably best gater in the world, Laguta up there with him, add Madsen and Hancock - stick them in the same race and it could be a real bun fight in the first corner. I think Polish speedway authorites are spoiling speedway. There should be no top class speedway the night before a world GP anywhere. Riders deserve to be able to put in the max effort to win the world championship, the pinnacle of any sport.

Might be giving Polish speedway maximum exposure but does it produce world champions. Top Polish riders have been in the world championship finals since mid-late 50's, thats over 60 years but they only produced 2 world champions - and one of them whilst he rode very well on the day he won it, he didnt do much else on the world scene. What do you remember the most - who was world champion or who won a Polish domestic meeting.?

What do you remember the most - who was world champion or who won a Polish domestic meeting.? Not sure why you're so obsessed with the Poles lack of Individual World Champions? I guarantee you that any Pole would rather see their club win a League Championship than a Pole win the World title. That's why they turn up in huge numbers for team meetings. Pop over to Poland and watch a couple of Ekstraliga meetings and I'm sure that you will lose all apathy towards Poland and realize why riders favour it. It's a wonderful product that makes team Speedway feel like a proper sport, something it hasn't felt like here in the UK for many, many years. Riders missing qualification is frustrating, but it's high time the FIM and the series organisers started rewarding the riders for competing on the biggest stage of all. We've got Olsen taking quarter of a million quid to put a track down, and I'm sure countless others, getting fat off the series when it should be the riders earning the money. Riders in years gone by like Harris and Cook have had to pay through the nose to ride in the series and it's just ridiculous. I don't care if a rider is last in every round, he shouldn't be paying to ride in the World Championship. Christ, if a sport as dull as snooker can give it's World Champion quarter of a million quid for winning, all of the riders from 1-15 should be earning handsomely out of the series. Then the Polish conflict would disappear and Ekstarliga would make more of an effort to avoid GP dates. Edited June 1, 2019 by CB252
severnsider
Zmarzlik could easily have broken his collarbone in his heat 14 crash last night. Would have been interesting the reaction that would have followed if he had. Luckily he was ok
