Big welcome to the Diamonds this Friday as we race our final home Shield match . As pre season competitions go it has been a useful work out.  The home form has been really good , just need one or two to get up to speed away from Ashfield before the season begins in earnest next week against Sheffield in the cup .

We are at full strength , while Newcastle are missing Tommy the tape toucher . His battles from the tapes with Sarj will be missed . Should be a comfortable home win , but anything can happen in speedway,  as long as we see great racing , that's the main thing .

I predict the arctic blast we are getting later to win this.

Rain forecast for later with snow on higher ground , just checked and yes it is May.

Ive just checked 3 different weather forecasts for 'springburn, glasgow' and all three predict it will be dry tonight with a slight chance of a shower over lunchtime. It will be  chilly so look out the red and white scarves and hats that have been put away for the summer, you might need them .

The clashes between Luke Chessell and Danny Phillips on Friday and Sunday might be interesting.

On Sunday, they might even make the difference between winning and losing........

Another decent meeting at the Field of Dreams. Jensen's charges off the inside line were superb against Worrall, with Cook imperious. Chessell continues to struggle and Starke looks pretty slow. Only the bitter cold and the ht15 result from Armadale tainted proceedings. Cant see us getting anything down at NCL but we'll see.

Another good meeting Cook missing the gate should be mandatory, Jensen is proving me wrong as he is looking good and once Starkey gets going we will look pretty formidable, he seemed to be down on power compared to the rest of the team.

And as for Young Kyle another accomplished night from him, all in all another step to were we want to be in terms of race sharpness.

Yup.........Cook a class act and a joy to watch.  Jensen a pure racer with a great style and never gives up, Vissing likewise.  Bickley another stylish rider who's going places quickly.

Kyle has already scored 1pt less than he achieved in total all last season. Workington should be praised for sticking with the young man last year when other teams wouldn't. What would he be doing if Worky were still in the League?

Sorry to hear that Luke has taken a break. Confidence is such an asset when going well and such an anchor when not. Good luck in whatever you choose to do next.

I think everyone hoped he'd get back to his pre injury form. Sadly for everyone this hasn't happened. He's done the right thing and hopefully by riding just in the national league he'll build up his confidence. Who we get to replace him is another matter.
