Sings4Speedway
Big test for IOW in the NT group opener. Plenty of interest with Ayres & Edwards quick around the Island up against Wood and Morley. Plus the new reserves with both Wirtzfeld & Kelly in strong early form there could be some excellent entertainment on show tonight although i feel Brooks will be the difference maker for a narrow away win. crazysue
Is there anyone going to this meeting who would be able to text updates to the Updates site please? If so, could you please send me a private message which includes your mobile number. Thanks
AntiqueSteve
Should be a good match this one....as previously said should be good riding in Ayres & Edwards and Morley & Wood, but Mildenhall might squeeze an away win if the rest do their bit. Have a good one guys...wish we were there !
Sings4Speedway
Good solid all round display from IOW to take the points last night, impressive return from Wirtzfeld again and solid scores from the engine room. Despite the heroics from Danny Ayres along with Edwards & Leek it feels like an opportunity missed to get something from the meeting ? Was Vasey in charge because the RR rider picks were frankly odd including 3 rides in a row for the poor Wallinger who's pointless return was costly but hats off to the Warriors who delivered and took home the points. He's not that good, and he has baggage. But, to give him the R/R ride in heat 5, when he's already programmmed for heats 4 and 6, was an amazing display of incompetent team management. Three rides on the trot is a tough ask anywhere for a man not in his first flush of youth, but 3 on the trot around the IOW is impossible. It's not surprising he didn't score all night after that. 3
cityrebel
He really struggled with the track last night, and from memory fell four times. The R/R picks were bizarre to say the least!

The RR choices throughout were just bizarre. Ht1 95% of team managers would give the reserve who had never been to the track (Kelly) this one so they were prepared for ht2. Ht5 as already stated Wallinger was out in 4 & 6 so to give 3 on the bounce was crazy especially when off the pace and sliding off unchallenged. Ht8 The majority here chuck out the strongest option in the "easiest race". Normally this is where Wally would have gone but as he couldn't beat an egg on the night Brooks would have been the next logical choice but he had been wasted in ht 1. Thats not the benefit of hindsight or armchair management that is how the vast majority of team managers would have played last night out and the vast majority would have achieved at least an away point for the Fen Tigers. Time will tell if its costly.
AntiqueSteve
The story around Mildenhall seems to be that Malcom Vasey recommended to include Wallinger in the team and he obviously chose to put him in again last night but 0 from all his rides from a so called heat leader

Has been a good heat leader, especially a couple of seasons ago if I remember correctly. Would have been a better choice, assume he's just without a ride and not stopped riding? teaboy279
I think Wallinger as a heat leader and Vasey as manager is the main reason most peoples tip Mildenhall to be at the bottom end this year.
cityrebel
After the brilliant Fen Tigers team of last season. This years side has a very different feel about it.

They were brilliant through the year, although it was Easties season long plan that did them in the end, did get lost in text a bit, I did mean this year's team aren't so brilliant, but as usual in speedway, almost impossible to follow a brilliant season with another one, as success means stripping a team, especially with the usual points reduction every year. adz_mft
Was always going to be difficult to reproduce last year's team with the poor lower point limit. With regards to Vasey he is well liked amongst the Mildenhall fans from his previous stint as announcer years ago. Was a popular choice to take over as team manager. With regards to Wallinger. I've no idea what went on last night, I wasn't there so can't comment. He looked good on Sunday though. I'm sure he will put things right this week
cityrebel
He had a horrific crash on the island a couple of years ago. That might have been playing on his mind.
