Gunner85
Leon riding for Berwick, Kyle riding for Glasgow .... was going to this match... no chance now with this clash.
Lenny Lion
This makes no sense at all. Belle Vue without their 2 heat leaders & the Warsaw GP on tv. They wonder why crowds dwindle in speedway. Crazy decisions like running this match where the opposition will have 2 guests. Can’t understand why Belle Vue agreed to this match in the first place. I urge the Leicester promotion to do the correct thing & rearrange this fixture when we can have 2 full teams. flagrag
I know Saturday nights are at a premium but the decision to run this night does look rather silly by Leicester. Belle Vue are one of the glamour clubs in the league with their young riders and I think they will be up towards the top of the league it would make sense to move this to another date when a full side can be tracked. Also to go up against the first GP on TV and the FA Cup final involving a Manchester team plus to a lesser extent the Eurovision song content. To me there seems lots of reasons to move this fixture to a more suitable date.

BV would have agreed as they are the away team and therefore minimal impact to their business... You very rarely see a team run at home missing key riders do you? It always seems to be the away team who arrive with a missing 'No1', wonder why? The reality is this.. Leicester will see it as a much better opportunity to win so will want the meeting to take place.. Belle Vue will see it as having no impact to their business so will want the meeting to take place as it ticks another fixture off.. Fitting fixtures in with so many shared riders must be a nightmare so the plan will be to run them if 'most' are there I would think as getting 'all' of them available, particularly as the season progresses and teams make changes, simply logistically won't be possible.. Let's be honest though, it doesn't really matter does it? Winning the Premiership has zero kudos, therefore winning the NL doesn't matter one jot either.. Speedway now is simply geared up to give lads the chance to justify their outlay on machinery, riding in as many meetings as possible to try and earn as much as they can.. The 14 on show are pretty much interchangeable on any given night due to various circumstances.. Promoters have long since stopped worrying about the credibility of what's often on offer, so no point expecting anything else but what we have now I would suggest..
WalterPlinge
With Leicester racing Saturdays, and Leon Flint doubling up for Berwick, he was pretty much always going to miss the trip to Leicester whatever the date. Kyle Bickley would have been available when Belle Vue took the fixture. But since the fixture was agreed, Workington closed, Joe Lawlor set fire to a hotel, and Bickley switched to Glasgow to replace Lawlor, meaning he now misses going to Leicester too. Belle Vue can ask to change the fixture (and no doubt they will have done) but they can't demand a change. All the power is with the staging club, and Leicester presumably prefer to meet one of the top sides at their weakest to take the easy 3 points.

And all to try and win a competition that by the very fact that such a meeting is allowed to take place, renders it absolutely worthless... An truly amazing business plan.. Why would speedway supporters and the promotion in Leicester be concerned at a Manchester club being in the F A Cup final and as for being worried about clashing with the Eurovision Song Contest? I really hope this was tongue in cheek.
Gemini
I thought the whole idea was to run National League matches on the Saturdays when there was a GP so 99% of the time there is always a match?

Has it has been pointed out, Leicester run on a Saturday and so the problem will not go away whichever date the fixture could have been changed to. Gemini
February 27th 2019.....................GLASGOW have axed Joe Lawlor and brought in former Workington rider Kyle Bickley to take over one of the reserve positions at Ashfield. The unexpected eve-of-season switch followed an incident involving Lawlor at a Glasgow hotel last Thursday night when the fire alarms were set off, guests evacuated and the Fire Brigade called. The Tigers released Lawlor on Friday for ‘gross misconduct’ and in a statement published in this week’s edition of Speedway Star, co-promoter Peter Facenna explains the club’s stance on the matter. GoldenGauntlet
SGP wins for me. I was really pleased when Lions announced they would be running a NL team, but I'm unlikely to see them at all this season due to staging the meetings on the worst dates possible for a speedway fan. I don't give a monkey's about the GP's. Eastbourne v Glasgow for me tonight. I would never miss live sport to watch an event on TV.

Rips the heart out of everyday speedway and gives absolutely nothing back.
