Islander15
How do they decide the best placed 2nd finisher in the shield? Use average points, discount points against the bottom placed team or something else?
IronScorpion
It will be a BSPA decision.
RS50
I believe they use the average.
HGould
I asked this as we are in a 3 team group. Actually first question I asked was why are we in a 3 team group, as I would have though Northern/Borders Group that Workington were in should have been the 3 team Group not the Southern Group as that was going to include Leicester. I never got a sensible answer to that other than Southern group is 3 new Teams (2 up 1 down) The answer I was given re 2nd place is that it'll be based on highest points and if level aggregate t or - between 2 x 4 Team Groups as only the winner of the Southern Group would go through. That seems very unfair to me , but we and the others in our Group are "new boys" so I reckon we have to sit quietly in the corner and let Mr Bates and Mr Godfrey walk all over us and be grateful for being in their league...
IronScorpion
Mr Bates being mentioned now being in the BSPA. I thought it was always down to Mr Chapman & Mr Godfrey.

Islander15
Very harsh if it’s just the highest points total in 2nd place as that excludes the 3 team group! Points average would be fairer than that. Was the points average used last season?
NeilWatson
Last year Peterborough went through to the semi-finals from the three team group as 9 match points from 4 matches (2.25) was a better record than the 13 from 6 (2.16) of the other two runners-up. 1
Norfolk Bear
Well I don’t think 2nd place is within the reach of Redcar , We have 2 misfiring Heat leaders & Scunthorpe have a top reserve in Danny Ayre’s , too much for us tonight & maybe at ours next week. IronScorpion
This result might depend on track prep with a bit of rain forecast. Danny Ayres is not our reserve as he is in our 1-5. The new Green Sheet Averages came out yesterday but do not apply until the 1st of May & there is not much change to any teams riding order. A win here and a point at Redcar and it’s a possibility for the Scorpions. Hopefully the rain holds off.
