Unknown Riders

Weymouth picture: Bob Coles on the bike. Malcolm Shakespeare in the middle at the back, and Brian Woodward front right. The guy at the back on the left looks familiar too. It might be Doug Underwood. Then again, it might not.

Not sure about Champ, but it could be Norman Hunter without a moustache.

The Reading picture on 'Old Crusader' has Jan Andersson in the lead. I''l ahve to guess the others: Simon Wigg, Nigel De'Ath and Pierre Brannefors (or possibly Per Jonsson, but the padded shoulders make me go for Pierre!)

Champ does look like Norman Hunter.

Some preliminary thoughts on the West Ham photo:

Left to right, back row: Howdy Byford, Bert Roger, Gerry Hussey(?), Tiger Stevenson (Team Manager), Jack Young, Wally Green. Front row: ?, Malcolm Craven, ?

Over to you, CHK...

Eastbourne rider is Tim Ballard (i think)

Champ is Norman Hunter

West Ham rider is Brian Davies

Canterbury rider in "Old Crusader" is Jim Crowhurst

Reading riders are Andersson and Jonsson, Oxford are Wigg and ? (Ali Stevens)

Weymouth team: Back, Doug Underwood, ?, Malc Shakespeare, Terry Tulloch

Front, Kevin Bowen, Bob Coles and Brian Woodward

Left Front in the West Ham picture is one of the Courtnell brothers (Maury at a guess)

Thanks so far.Must admit i have not seen a picture of Norman Hunter without facial hair i thought maybe Dickie May but was totally unsure.Doug Underwood was another i kinda thought of as he was the only one i knew with that style of beard.I reckoned the West Ham team was 1952 or 53 and the foreign looking rider kneeling left possibly B.Hveem?.The only one i`m fairly sure of is the Reading vs Oxford one as i took that :)

Frigbo, any idea of the year for the Weymouth team?

Put a few more on.The Dons riders i think one is Ronnie Moore.Poole 88 Its the back row on either side of Neil Street.Rye House 1, its the no 6 kneeling.Rye House 2 ,the one at the back between Naylor and Andy Silver and the one kneeling in front of him.The other Rye House team i dont know the two riders between P.Shroek and R.R

Ta :D

As for the Courtnell brothers i see there is a T.Courtnell listed in 54 whats his first name if its him, anyone? Must admit when i have looked at the photo i always thought front left looked like a Russian then saw Hveem rode around that time so presummed it was him. Thanks Norbold :D

Terry Courtnell. I believe he was killed in a car accident in S.Africa in the mid 50's
