moomin man 76
I would be surprised in the Abensberg qualifier if Timo Lahti wasn't in contention for a qualifying place. 2 hours ago, smiles said: So we have the following through so far Current GP Vaculik, Iversen , Zagar Past GP Cook, Ljung, Harris New ones Lambert, Aspgren,Thomson,Bellego, Mikklleson, Fricke. Others that had been due to race in the final but weren't picked included Dudek, Janowski, Kołodziej, Pawlicki, Kasprzak, Drabik and Kubera. Fairly sure Dudek & Janowski will be in the GP's in 2020 regardless, Dudek along with Madsen & Vaculik look the most likely to challenge Zmarzlik now Woffinden is ruled out of Prague & Hallstavik. Janowski will get a wild card if he doesn't hit top 8. The Pawlicki brothers should really have been selected above Przedpelski and Niedzwiedz. You could argue a case for Drabik & Kołodziej also. But I wouldn't be upset if there are only 3 Poles in the GP's next year!

I'm not convinced that the Polish riders are that much better than everyone else. The Polish lads have a huge advantage in that they get so much more quality racing and exposure on tracks they have grown up on. Look at last year you had Kolodziej, Hampel, KK, Pawlicki, Smeketa, Buckowski in the qualifiers. All top riders in Extraliga. Yet only Kolodziej finished top 3 in any of the 4 matches. Not someone who flukes a top 3 place in the final and who will be an embarrassment when it comes to the GP's next year and there's certainly a few names in there who have a history of that too!!....(sadly, two of them are British!!) Welwyn
Lambert surely has a chance of top 8 as well. Can't see a situation where he doesn't race almost all, if not all, of the GP's (barring him getting injured himself that is)
smiles
My 3 for today are Kenny Bjerre, Vaclav Millik and Smolinksi will get through on home shale with Pavlic going through wherever he finishes
Najjer
Can anybody explain what the deal is with Pavlic, and why he's expected to get a wildcard to the final anyway?

Because the challenge final is in Gorican - so Croatia are assured of a place in the field.

How do you 'fluke' a top 3 place in the final? Surely you must 'fluke' your way through the other qualifying rounds as well. That's a lot of fluking. If riders can't beat those you deem to be an 'embarrassment' then they don't deserve to qualify anyway. Edit, sorry Milik finished 3rd in his 4th ride, but still not in contention despite a rather easy looking heat 17.
