Ben Fund Bonanza 2019

Recommended Posts

I hope this goes ahead OK after all the recent rain and lack of warm weather to dry the ground. Probably better with it being scheduled for afternoon.

On a separate tack, I wonder if Sam Ermolenko will be having a beer with his old bosum buddy David Hemsley, now the Beaumont Park landlord, and having a good chuckle about old times??B)

Is David still involved with Beaumont Park?

I sincerely hope those organising this keep the Supporters well up to date with track conditions as their is only one thing worse than a rain off and that’s a rain off 30 minutes after the event should have started with a packed house.

Is there anyone going to this meeting who would be able to text updates to the Updates site? If so, could you please send me a private message which includes your mobile number.

Many thanks

The car park only holds about 230 cars  and is always full unless you get there really early. I did use my scooter for the last few matches but unfortunately it has gone wrong and the new one doesn't fit in the car. I know I can use the buggy and I have done, as long as the driver is dog friendly. :D I am not giving up without trying anyway as this is my 70th Speedway season.

Hi there Janet. 1949 was also my first time watching speedway. I went with my dad to Blackbird Road so it's 70 seasons for me as well.

Well done to you also. Of course a good many of my 70 years were supporting the Bees along the M69 after Leicester closed in 1983. Took me a few years to get used to it  and be converted to a 100% Coventry fan as originally I always supported the visiting team, whoever that was. Makes me cringe now to think I would even have been wanting Poole to beat Coventry. :D

Anybody know what happens if we get a rain off, will it be re-staged at the Leicester track or moved somewhere else as last year, what with the rubbish weather we are getting at the moment its a tad worrying.

That's my worry. If it rains all day saturday, will the track recover in time. If i lived local i would definitely take a chance.

can't be certain but I'm presuming his company still owns the lease on the area that includes the stadium. I doubt if the City Council would be all that keen to take it back into their control, far better to have some mug controlling it I'd imagine.

Was in Derbyshire today but was quite warm and very windy - if it was also in Leicester that would have been just what the doctor ordered. Hope it stays dry tomorrow.

Yes, very windy in Leicester today, which should have dried the track out nicely. Lions p&p this evening, presumably that went ahead as planned, as nothing on website to say it had been cancelled. Saturday's forecast doesn't look good, rain all day,BBC  forecast says stopping about midnight, but Sunday does look dry, so fingers cross if this strong wind persists it should dry out in time for 2pm.

Who are the currently based U.K. riders (draw cards) who are sitting out this meeting that could have quite easily have ridden?

This meeting is not by invite only, the riders need to let the organisers know that they are available. Any "Star" name that has not done so should hold their heads in shame!

The BEN fund does a great job assisting former riders, some will be @ Leicester in their wheelchairs, it also assist current riders sitting out injuries. It can only do so if WE ALL support it......

P.S. & yes I do my own bit.
