Smith is synonymous with Belle Vue, Flint isn't. Now the intention might to nurture Flint into choosing the Aces as his top flight side but it still puzzles me why that's at the expense of alienating Smith.

Andy Smith maybe, not Jack. Isn’t Jack “owned” by Glasgow?

You've answered your question. Synonymous or not, Smith is not likely to be good enough to be an Ace in the future, Flint is. It's there to produce future Aces.

It's far too early in Smith's career to say he won't be good enough. He's even ridden in the Premiership before!

Look how old he was! I'm not advocating Smith's potential over Flint's or vice versa, they both have a decent chance of becoming top flight riders.

Completely disagree and i will tell you this one has a stinking the worlds against me attitude and one has the attitude to make  him a world champion i cant even believe its a question smith or flint there is only 1 winner there.

I'm quite happy with that team. I hoped that we might get Flint and Palin. I don't know much at all about Rathbone but I'm sure that Mark Lemon will offer him lots of helpful advice. I am pleased to see Bickley, Bowen and Woodhull return and think most, if not all, of those riders could improve their averages. Philips will be able to pass on the benefit of his experience and should at least maintain his average.

Looks a decent side and in fact despite the lower points limit looks better than last years. Providing Woodhull is still interested he should improve, Palin will likely be another Edwards style rider (namely great debut year but overshadowed by a few others). Verdict is still out on Rathbone as he has A1 equipment and is quick out front but is he quick enough and can he pass?. Otherwise providing there re not too many fixture clashes with Flint & Bickley it looks a potential top 4 side.
