Wish the Lakeside Eagles (or should that be the Eastbourne Hammers)  the very best of luck on their newly adopted track at Arlington.

One can only wonder if Jon cook has accepted the offer of riding the Hammers remaining league fuxtures at Arlington last season whether Cook's Hammers would have been CL champions last season.

Anyhow with the majority of riders and personnel from Lakeside, with a sprinkling of up and coming youngsters from Eastboune's NL outfit - they are keeping the torch of professional speedway in Southern England alive.

Maybe Cook's continuing efforts to resurrect Lakeside will bring about some local derbies in 2020.

The Hammers should have moved to Arlington last year. Going to Rye was a predictable disaster, an awful experience for those of us that had to endure it. As for the new venue in Essex, I'm not holding my breath.

Not sure whether you are being a bit mischeivious there ?? LOL

I'm pretty sure if you cut Jon Cook in half he would be an Eastbourne man, isn't that where he started out and made his name.

Lawson; Morley and Bowtell from Lakeside will do well there, Eddie Kennett is Eastbourne through and through, Kerr just loves to race and the others are NL riders moving up.

Be interesting whether my Brummies or the Eagles do best of the Clubs moving up.

What other "personnel" have followed Cook from Lakeside to Eastbourne, Geer and Bellerby the Promoters are long term Eastbourne men aren't they???

I do agree its great to see a Professional team from South in Speedway, they should have a huge catchment area, especially on a Saturday night from their own, Lakeside, Rye House, all the old London Clubs too - especially South of the River. They seem to have done some very good marketing and having a real go, good luck to them.

You can add the team manager Will Pottinger to the 2018 Lakeside staff following J Cook to Eastbourne.

I thought we were going to have matching team suits this year as we usually have but there was no evidence of that in the team photo or at P&P on Tuesday.

Hope we have them tonight or it will be a backward step in my view.

They announced at the very beginning that we would have race jackets rather than team suits.

Some great racing at Arlington last night but boy was it cold. LOoked to be a very big crowd based on my NL visits there with Brummies in recent years and the atmosphere was very good. I don't know who the Meeting Presenter was but h was excellent. Eagles Heat Leaders look very strong, Brennan went well. Zak rode best of the Brummies and Paco showed some excellent touches, we packed the places but lack of heat leader strength was crucial.

One nice touch I thought was Eagles Management walking down long queue outside to apologise for delays getting in and explaining that it was because a number of their staff were at Football semi final, they needn't have done that, most clubs wouldn't but little things like that matter and a few home fans in the queue explained how positive things are with the new Promotion and Management.

I noticed the management out there when the queue got long. That's the way to do it.

Will be nice when things settle down for the management to walk round the stadium and mingle with fans during a meeting.

The guy who ran Swindon a few years back used to do that -- sadly, I cannot recall his name right now -- and people appreciated it. I even remember him doing it at Arlington and talking to the home fans as well as mixing with the Robins fans.

All went well last night at Arlington. Good atmosphere is generated when you get a crowd like that.

For H. Gould the meeting presenter was Kevin Coombes -- he's been missing the last few years but was the man on the Mic for many a long day at Arlington. Knows his speedway. He also does the British GP at Cardiff, or did when I last went.

All in all, I thought it was a good advert for British Speedway, especially as the races came quickly in batches. It does keep the interest going.

So, well done to the #neweraEagles.

Long may it continue and grow.

Disregarding the good racing, Kev Coombes was worth the extra £3 admission over last season alone. Think we can only build on this, Wood Morley and Bowtell will improve, next Sat against Somerset will be a sturner test, although think we'll get more point's at reserve.

I'm unashamedly going to plug Jon Cooks' excellent interview on the Eagles website.

Hoping for some more competitive encounters like the Leicester meeting.

A buzz about the place this season & hats off to all those making it happen.

Nailed on 2 pointer for next season I imagine (and hope).

Earlier than that I suspect.  Tom Brennan has been put in the World U21 Semi in Poland on May 25th. If my understanding is right Tom wíll still be on 2.0 so we will only be able to bring in a 2.0 guest against Berwick that night.   Big chance for Jason?

Watched that interview and what a contrast with my Club Birmingham, we did after all both come up from NL, and from my NL days I think similar crowds around 600 - 700.

Our crowds have gone down I feel, Eastbourne's based on Cooks comments have near doubled - why?? how?? and what has transformed one Club not the other??

Everything Eastbourne have done since Cook and Jordan took over is upbeat, positive and backed by some commercial flair it seems.

They have "had a go"

Everything Birmingham have done seems to be half hearted, half baked and "make do". We definitely miss Lee Kilby not being full time on our Commercial side.

"we are stagnating"

You tend to get out of anything what you put in and fair play to Eastbourne, I can only hope that the Masons find someone to do the Commercial side at Birmingham in a similar style to Eastbourne, a bit of effort goes a long way

Exactly what I thought yesterday, assume the next average changes are 31st May/1st June? Should be no pressure on him really, be great to see him at this level, assume Tom will be at Glasgow on Friday, or will he be on his way to Poland, and we'll have to have another 2 point reserve, Jason or a n other.

May be a set number of home and away matches so not clear cut??? He may be number 4 or 5 in your averages by next weekend if you reach average cut off on matches.

I wasn't sure, reckon if he's in the main body of the team by then, probably do r/r, certainly at home as Alfie will be at reserve, especially if Tom's above Ben in the averages, would mean all apart from the top 2 would be able to take his rides, even if he's 5th, would still mean Ben and the reserves would, so not too detrimental for the meeting at home, maybe a guest away would be better.
