Bryce
I'd also say that Alan Grahame's status at Cradley was legendary despite having multiple world champions as team mates. His partnership with Phil Collins was awesome and they frequently took 5-1s against much more illustrious opponents.

Something he is still proud about. He rode at No 1 after Hans had a bad patch in early 1982, while he was getting used to riding on the Godden. Nielsen finished top of the Birmingham averages in all three seasons. I agree that both Alan and Andy Grahame were very classy riders, and they were also fantastic team men. Between 1981 and 1989, there was a Grahame in more than half of the championship-winning sides.

cityrebel
I find it hard to see how Reading running stand alone meetings at Arlington are going to pay their way. Apart from friends and family, who is going to turn up. Kent's attempts to run two SDL meetings at Iwade last year, resulted in poor crowds. The public just wont pay to watch this level of racing. I think the fact that Kent charged for the SDL meetings says a fair bit (considering riders at this level are not supposed to be paid points money). Plymouth hosted development only meetings in the past at no charge for entry. Sadly a bit of a gulf in class has crept into the development leagues but that is not to say they are not still important, far too many people believe riders just get on a bike and are an instant winner, learning the highs and lows prior to full league racing is a huge part of development for many riders. cityrebel
I suppose in len's defence, he did have staging costs and medical cover to pay for. I don't see how Reading can meet that outlay, unless they have some decent sponsors.

Its still a requirement to run under full racing regulations and therefore have a paramedic, scb referee etc on top of the cost of track hire hence making them treble headers although the crowds would have been improved if it was free entry. Given the number of development league riders that have featured in the Kent side over the past few years i would have thought it should be viewed and preparation for the future. There is no reliance on or expectancy of paying spectators. We run on sponsorship and fundraising. However this season will stretch us to the limit. Unfortunately this is the only way Eastbourne would allow us to continue using Arlington.

HGould
Another impressive effort from The Eagles. https://www.eastbourne-speedway.com/merchandise/ Reading through it seems these are the guys who supply BRDC at Silverstone who own the Track and F1 License; and Corporate gear for some massive Blue-Chip Global and National Companies; and the Company Boss is an ex F3 driver. Company based in Tamworth, somebody at Eastbourne is doing some serious homework and making great contacts, this Company is on the doorstep of my Club the Brummies and also Wolves and Leicester, why aren't we in there getting deals done.?? cityrebel
Personally I've never bought speedway clothing. Attending the sport is something I'd rather not advertise!

It's an interesting point you make; as years ago speedway fans would rush to wear anything with club logo's on it. It's a brave and innovative move, prices look about right compared with other clubs merchandise. As with many things Glasgow set the bar high with their website and online merchandise and this new Eagles gear looks competitively priced and more lines than Glasgow currently, so as you sat time will tell. Sings4Speedway
I think the prices are pretty fair as you can buy direct and add a logo for marginally more however the main issue is that the merchandise all looks a little dull. this could be a factor because the I.T forman colour scheme and branding was bold and stand out whereas this just presents a blue polo shirt, cap, coat etc with small retro (dated) logo upon it. Whilst im certain the quality is good i fear this takes Eastbourne from leading the way to back to the run of the mill.
