ProudtobeaBrummie
Seems that the strong rumours are Brummies and Eagles to come up for the 2019 season.. Looking at potential team building it looks like a effort has been made to reduce cost a fair amount for this second tier with teams using many more NL riders from last years lot than ever before. Bluenose
Quote from Alex Harkness on the Edinburgh Evening Post site. The Championship division next season will boast 12 teams including Leicester and Somerset, who have dropped down from the Premiership and will be joined by Eastbourne and Birmingham, who move up from the National League.Read more at: https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/speedway/monarchs/edinburgh-monarchs-chief-s-vow-after-points-limit-is-slashed-1-4831611

He is quoted throughout the article, with his words in quotation marks. The last paragraph is added by the columnist, who has history in the business of putting unsaid words into articles.

singy13
The two teams that are to 'come and join us' are not exactly rushing to announce the 'great news' are they...? It seems they may be awaiting another push up the ladder?
Halifaxtiger
I'll be surprised if its Eastbourne because Martin Dugard has been complaining about attendances at NL level. With Lakeside closing and Kent requesting changes to planning permission so they can ride on a day other than a Monday, I think it might be them. So why has Dugard said on their website that he's about to release a statement regarding moving up? He's hardly likely to release one to say he isn't. Brummie Kev
What I dont understand is why Eastbourne arnt going to release a statement until the end of NEXT WEEK. Its been almost a week since the championship agm finished, it stated the two clubs were going to announce it "in a few days" and as expected the rest of the championship has started planning already, so whats the hold up? Is it because next week on the 28th its the start of the NL AGM and after all this both clubs will probably stay where they are
allthegearbutnaeidea
They cant announce until the NL AGM has taken place surely?
Bluenose
Why don,t they have the NL Agm with the big boys,.........this limited company does not cover them ?? then it would be sorted out by now,it is not fair to the fans Yes Kev the Brummies have not come out yet, what happens if they do not go to the Championship ?? With Buster stating that he believes 3 tiers is best for British speedway allowing 2 teams to move up and sink the national league with others not returning to the tapes. If there are enough teams to make up a sensible NL i suspect they moves up will be granted but if not they will be confined to the lower level and be prepared for much grumbling...... Grachan
Lee Kilby says on Twitter that The Brummies have, at this point, not moved up to the CL, although there are talks in progress.

Presumably that is this one : The following statement has been authorised by Eastbourne Speedway Club chairman, Martin Dugard. “Forman IT Eagles are aware of the Speedway Control Bureau indication that two National League Development clubs will be moving to the Championship League in 2019. “We will be issuing a full, detailed statement about our intentions for 2019 by the end of next week." Does it say they are moving up ?

What next, Jayne Moss at Buxton announcing that she won't be signing Jason Doyle, or Eric Boothroyd announcing that he isn't making a comeback? Anyway someone claims Alex Harkess has confirmed it. I think the thing is they are strongly rumoured to be going up. There's no rumours about Doyle & Buxton to my knowledge. Its anything but unheard of in such circumstances to make a statement denying rumours, or clarifying why they aren't seeking to make changes. Truth is, I have heard it is Eastbourne but that doesn't make it any less surprising to me.
