So a rider asks to be replaced but then you decide to wait s day a week a month in case they change their mind!!

Possibly the most ridiculous post I have read this season

Really ?

i can quite easily see the following scenario:  say Jack Smith was banging in big scores and for some reason being a young lad he impetuously asks to be replaced immediately after a meeting. If the management hadn't already planned to bring in Erik Riss and Kasper Andersen do you not think they would have talked to him, given him a couple of days to think it over then if he still felt the same then fair enough ?.

The fact that the averages wouldn't fit the 40 point increase on the 30th June precluded that happening. In effect Jack probably saved them the job of dispensing with him.

The fact is he hasn't progressed in the way he was expected to, many other young riders have caught up and overtaken him (literally), that doesn't mean he can't or won't improve but currently he's even disappointing in the NL.

Not really about Jack's prowess as a speedway rider but after saying this the guy is only 20, he went through what must have been a hugely confidence sapping season at Swindon last year. He has probably outscored Nathan Greaves on most occasions at home so far this term but Nathan has been much more effective away. There is time for him to make his mark yet.

From the matches I have seen the lad has some talent just lacks consistency . Certainly has a very high average around Redcar and around +2 away from there. He can certainly gate but has to accept that if you score zero ,zero  then he is likely to get dropped from his next ride and not to throw his toys out of the pram and demand a move.

Definetly worse number sevens around than Mr.Smith and I'd be surprised if he doesn't get a call from one or two other northern tracks.

The only reason he may have outscored Greaves at home is due to Redcar giving him the easier no 7 slot so he faced an opponent's reserve 5 times - he was very fortunate in this respect, and if as been suggested he resented being dropped from one ride to make way for a far superior rider which would without doubt have helped the team, ,then he needs to have a close look at his attitude towards a team sport.

I have nothing against the lad and he seems very personable I wish him all the best and thank him for his efforts.

Thunderstorms in eastern Scotland today, as we all know Scotland is higher then north east England, so putting 2 and 2 together all the wet stuff dropped today will flow downhill to our area, therefore in the interests of safety for riders and spectators, can we call the fixture off early. PLEASE.

Apparently the river Tees has turned into blood and been inundated with frogs, when Aaron (Summers? on his last visit) stretched out his hand with the rod and struck the dust of the ground, lice came on men and animals, the track staff have been struck by boils, it's looking very dark at the moment etc. etc.

Waiting on a miracle.

approaching silly season now when riders are not signed just to ride; but based on average so Club can book riders on "track preference" when new signing can't ride, which in case of Riss may be most weekends! They'll bag some nice specialist track Guests to replace him - bet he rides less than 50% of Redcar Fixtures!

Excellent conspiracy theory there.

Redcar have obviously pulled a fast one here - booking a track specialist NL rider to guest for Riss at home on Friday.

We could always try and come up with an excuse not to run on Friday. Any ideas?

Riss will only miss 2 home meetings. Tonight and next week, but guest facility is available next week.

As for tonight, I still think Redcar can win! Cancelling will have crossed their mind but they'll also have some belief.

Charles and MPT will score big regardless. If Greaves continues his run and Kasper can put in a performance it'll all be good! Rathbone and Woolley will only have 6 rides between them so as long as the other 9 don't have Redcar at the back...

  • 3 weeks later...

Will many Bears fans be coming north to support the side (and congratulate Charlie) at Berwick on Saturday night?

Expensive week for Bears fans as they were at Belle Vue in numbers on Monday. If they travel to Glasgow Friday, Berwich Saturday and a home match on Sunday then they are certainly loyal supporters.

That and the fixture list is ridiculous..
