Great looking team. Should have the best reserves all season.

That's one 44.5 point looking team.   Ah, the new conversion rate.  Hmmmmm. :)

There is nothing wrong with the new conversion rate or its longer term intention which is to create a recognisable gap between the 2 league standards

It will also make doubling down less attractive

Where (as often) it falls down is that the inplementation creates as many questions as answers and therfore anomalies as per this situation

At the moment the difference in standard does not warrant a rate of 1.5

Boro have worked out this team superbly to take advantage - its not their fault the figures are currently skewed!

There are other issues too which havent been addressed such as riders having lower 2nd tier averages than top tier - this is far more of a challenge to the set up and longer term aim

It would be relatively straight forward to combine results from both leagues for riders doubling up, use the agreed conversion to weight the relevant part, and provide a single average to be used in both leagues

We agree that 1.5 for next season is wrong.

If there is to be a first division and a second division they can be regulated by team building points limits, not by arbitrary conversion rates which do not reflect the different levels of skills of the riders.

I can't see the problem with doubling down (or doubling up) now that we have different race nights for the two leagues. In fact it should be encouraged for British riders, to make speedway more cost effective both for the riders, who need two pay packets, and for the promoters who can save on the air fares and running costs of foreign riders.

Compare the Redcar and the Peterborough teams:

Redcar have Wright and Barker as heatleaders and they should be second strings/third heatleaders in the PL;

Redcar have Stewart and Bacon as second strings and they should be reserves in the PL.

That's progression, not giving Barker and Bjerre PL reserve berths.

Here's a quiz question: When was the last time Panthers fans saw the quote "it’s a team we wanted" and actually thought that they'd settle for that without question as well? It's over a decade at least but management have cracked it this time ;)

Just looked at the 39 riders who achieved averages in both the PL and the CL in 2018 and the average "conversion rate" was:

1.32

On the face of the conversion comparable alone (and allowing nothing for anticipated increase or reduction in average):

Chris Harris (0.99), Proctor (1.04), Klindt (1.05) and Schlein (1.08) would be the best value signings in the CL, but the worst in the PL;

Auty (1.77), Jake Allen (1.62), Summers (1.57) and Ashley Morris (1.52) would be the best value in the PL, but the worst in the CL.

So advantage Somerset in the CL and hope for Ipswich in the PL if they sign Auty, Allen and Summers!

Well done to the Panthers promotion for astute planning , it looks a very good side on paper but unfortunately nothing is won on paper with luck and injuries that cannot be foreseen along the way as they found out towards the end of 2018 . I think its the best team planning I have ever seen at Peterborough , there doesn't appear to be any weak links IMO .  So well done Ged & co excellent team planning.

Looking at this team it’s a bit Dads Army ala Rye House last year. Fine at home but maybe not away. Not sure but that perhaps goes for most teams.

Do keep up or be original:

Lasse has been around for a few years now, never really kicked on and has been in the shadow of his brother for a long time.

Barker is done. He’s starting at reserve for a reason and younger, hungrier, keener reserves will be beating him comfortably.

It reminds of the Rye team this one, and you said this a couple pages back, it feels like a dads army team. I agree. It’s a bit of that, a bit of some riders who are just steady Eddie, and only really BWD who has the potential to seriously improve that avaerage.

I mean don’t get me wrong, in a 7 team league it’s going to be in a play off conversation but no way on this planet is that team the strongest one announced. No bias, but BV are so much stronger.

There's not a "Rye House" feel about the team at all.

Rye House had Kasprzak, Harris, Nicholls, Kennett and Robson.

Peterborough has a still on it Hans and Harris, that's it. So, you see, absolutely nothing like Rye House at all.

This Peterborough team is the best in the league.

Every rider etc Harris barring injury will increase their average no problem. I'm not sure that can be said with other teams.

Saying all that, and Peterborough fans understand it, it's not how you start a season, it's all about how you finish it.

If this team stays together they're top 4 no problem, but the Peterborough Showground always produces spectacular crashes.

Also, Peterborough never finish a season with the rider's they start with, pretty much the same as every team so finishing positions can't really be judged until late July, but on paper right now, by far the best team against other teams already signed or predicted.

Not convinced and i believe the Peterborough reserves might be vulnerable away.I believe Wolves, Swindon, Belle Vue all have better teams we shall see.

Spot on

I have no idea what some people are seeing when they look at this Peterborough team ?,  clearly one of the strongest teams named so far

Cook / Andersen / Harris will be a match for anyone especially around the showground ,

"like Rye House"  , ... really ....?
