Belle Vue 2019

Recommended Posts

As I stated yesterday I found it hard to believe he got the information from a third party and was waiting to hear from the management for the truth to come out.

Perhaps Craig had a relapse from his much publicised illness.

Looking forward to hearingĀ  about our new team members for 2019.

All the people who were slatingĀ Belle Vue yesterday can now see who the unprofessional person was.

Ā

Which is what I suspected before hand.

craig is just your bog standard, run of the mill rider. Ā It also ties in with the rumours that he wasnā€™t part of the plan. There are a couple of fan boys on social media, they know who they are some post on here, who engage mouth before brain. Itā€™s good that the heart is there but sometimes you have to keep your counsel.

Wish Craig all the best for the future but the time was rightĀ

Why would Craig lie about it? Don't buy it.Ā

Any coincidence ā€œbig bad Belle Vueā€ story broke same day Glasgow announced Cookie back at Cashfield for 2019?Ā

Hope he gets a top tier spot soon. Too good for second tier. Should be spreading his wings in Sweden if he wants to be in GPS in 2020.

No one in sweden wants him doubt he will be wanted in Poland either after last seasons performances.

Belle Vue statement :

Ā

BELLE VUE ACES - TEAM BUILDING UPDATE

Since the AGM last month, the Aces management have been working to build two competitive teams for the 2019 Premiership and National League campaigns, through the use of the clubā€™s own assets, and those secured from other clubs and unattached riders.

As team building is very much a numbers game, speedway fans and riders expect an element of movement and change from year to year in line with these rules. Teams also need to be sanctioned and approved by the BSPA to verify averages, which can be a timely process.

Given this, weā€™re aware that information can appear in the press and on social media from riders who have been informed by Belle Vue that they are not in the 2019 plans and the club supports their decision to make this information public so that they can secure a team place in another team in 2019.

Management also advise the BSPA and the ridersā€™ parent clubs of their position on a rider and during the winter break the BSPA circulate a weekly list to all clubs to show a riders availability.

Social media can be very one sided and the club would like to place on record that Craig Cook, being an Edinburgh asset signed a one-year deal with the Aces in 2018. A telephone conversation was held with Craig on Monday 19th November to advise that he wasnā€™t to be in the Aces initial teams plans.

His name was then provided to the BSPA by his parent club and subsequently circulated on the BSPA rider available list. We are therefore somewhat surprised by recent comments on social media against the club and given other information we are aware of, it would not be in anyoneā€™s interest to engage in further discussion on this matter.

However, we do recognise that Craig has made a significant contribution to the Aces during his time with the club and wish to offer our sincere thanks to him. The management, staff and fans wish him every success for 2019 and beyond.

Further updates on the Clubā€™s teams for 2019 will be shared at a pre-Christmas fans event, to be held at the National Speedway Stadium on Thursday 12th December at 7.30pm and following the events the details will be released on the clubā€™s social media channels.

Event details can be found on www.bellevueaces.co

So is the pre-Xmas fans event on Weds 12th or Thurs 13th? If they can get that wrong maybe the date of the phone call too?1

Probably the time is right for Cookie to move on , but heā€™s far from a ā€˜bog standard run of the mill riderā€™ ..... imo of courseĀ

So the statement said he was initially left out of the team plans? But this 3rd party just confirmed it was definite before the club did?Ā

It said they spoken to him on November 19 to inform him he wasnā€™t part of the team planning. The club then informed the BSPA so they could put him on the availability list. Now thatā€™s a bold statement, which is why I believe it. Every club could verify that statement as either true or false, so if it was false, then itā€™s a bit risky putting it out in the public domain.

I had heard that he was on his way, and there were whispers on here in fact at the back end of November too. Iā€™m pretty certain Craig would have had some inclination.

Rohan Tungate posted his update on the 29th, so he was clearly told fair and square.Ā

Why would they treat Craig anyĀ different?

Cook replies....

More

Just read the statement from @TheAces management and I totally refute everything within it. I have texts & phone records that I will happily share. IF I was told on the 19th then I would have quickly acted. I was still playing tele tennis up until the end of the month. (Cont..)

So heā€™s basically just acknowledged that something was going on, by playing ā€˜table tennisā€™ up until the end of the month.

Swings and roundabouts this. Wish both parties the best for 2019

Canā€™t understand why the Aces arenā€™t standing by a rider who hasĀ bleed Aces blood for his team.

Much more to this than meets the eye, especially since Cook has now refuted the statement by Belle Vue.

Dont think there has been a more loyal servant to the Aces than Cook in recent years, sometimes loyalty really means little.

Be interesting to see who the Aces are planning on using next season then now. Fricke looks nailed on. Just wonder if Bewley is going to be fit to start the year .

Loyalty cuts both ways.Ā  Belle Vue stood by Cook as well.Ā

From many posts, it seems that this was a matter of terms. As much as I would have wanted him to stay with the Aces, if he was asking for more than they were prepared to pay I totally agree with the decision to show him the door. Its about time other promotions had a sense of financial responsibility - we have seen Glasgow banging on about continual 6 figure losses but word is that they are again throwing serious money about to get who they want for this season.

Its anything but the first time we have had a situation where a rider says one thing about his departure, the club says another and I suspect we'll never know the truth of the matter(Acef's point above, however, is a very fair one). It has all the appearance of a childish slanging match but if someone was being untruthful about me I'd almost certainly respond.
