Was tonight an option for the restaging of Lakeside v Peterborough - The Final Chapter (Possibly), or was the announcement of tonight being a possibility for the restaging of our double header with Lakeside a non starter to start with.

Anyone know? ........................and when is it likely to be staged now?

See previous and Lakeside couldn't do tonight due to rider unavailability.

If the rider unavailability is down to the Olympique at Wolverhampton that in my opinion is a pathetic reason for not running tonight- the BSPA should have insisted that klindt and Lawson pull out of the individual meeting.

No I was told the two reserves couldn't get out of work commitments. However it was IMO a bit unrealistic and unfair to ask Lakeside to trail back up tonight at such short notice.

So I presume Lakeside's reserves can get a  Wednesday off with a days notice but not a Monday.

Has there ever been a triple header?

For a home meeting I assume so as they are both Essex boys and I have never heard of a triple header but if it started early enough why not but I would imagine it would be a big ask both on man and machine...

So now we face Lakeside on Saturday (a), Sunday(h) and Monday(h) all provisionally as yet.

What really worries me is regarding the Comets hopefully not falling at the last hurdles so to speak.

I mean Lakeside riders bemoan lack of home track advantage, but surely after having half a match last Sunday, then another on Wednesday, and then Saturday  - they will be, to coin a phrase, 'dialled in'? Which for the Saturday night will be hard graft for the Comets I think?

Not aware what is happening with Ty...prob out injured...but oh dear it does make booking a GOOD guest so very important for Saturday...a Rye House specialist please.

Yes, why not there's a first for everything, not much surprises me in speedway anymore. I mean last Sunday our Super Hero Mason rode 14 heats between 2 tracks doing all the driving in between and still scored 27+1

Spoke to Ty at Scunny Sunday and although his hand is really swollen and turning every shade of Black, Blue, Green and Yellow you can imagine; he said it wasn't hurting him that much; however it may be a Scaphoid  fracture and until the swelling goes down they cant really tell. He also said that he was getting it checked out this week. If it isn't fractured and they can get the swelling down who knows he may be back for the weekend however there was an awful lot of swelling, so until they find out what is actually going on it is touch and go and if it is confirmed that he has broke his Scaphoid that will be him definitely out

Some have suggested counting 1 meeting as the result rather than racing twice on the same night

In this case its not possible as different rules apply

TS allowed for league match but not in 2 leg aggregate tie

Wish you could get a flutter on this final Lakeside league match at the bookies, not on the score or anything like that; and I may be being a tad cynical but what's the odds for the second meeting not going past Heat 10? (Might even be a case of "Lend us your cable cutters Ged")

However there will not be a re-staging and the result will stand...

Speedway really has completely lost the plot if there is to be a triple header between the same two clubs. Just ditch the Shield (call it a shared winner) and the league match (call it a draw), and leave them as monuments to the past.

My mention of a triple header was very much tongue in cheek, however it has been a funny old week or two in this funny old sport of ours.

"Speedway is like a box of chocolates. You just never know what you're gonna get. (Forrest Gump 1994 or 2018).

'Monuments to the past'..........I like that but I would also include the play off match(s) too.

What is wrong with the team finishing top when all the league fixtures have been run aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh I see.

Lakeside and Peterborough have been racing each other since September !!! 3 Finals, 3 trophies , season doesn't finish until 31st we have qualified as asked not Workington's fault others haven't . I'm sure if Workington won , Lakeside would want a shot at the other trophy or vice versa . A lot of blood, sweat and tears to get to these finals why just award them all ? And a chance for Workington to get bigger crowds when we really need them  . You all might have the great thought of coming to the tapes in 2019 unfortunately we don't have that guarantee .....

So you get the Worky and Lakeside teams together for a presentation of the Shield, and you get a big picture of Mr Godfrey stuck over it when it comes to the photos being taken.
