Is this down t American intelligence I wonder? After all in the UK speedway thrived for about 40 years when most had black leathers.Did the introduction of personal leathers mark the start of the downfall of the sport? We ended up having a group of individual riders, rather than a team.........

didn't think you were into conspiracy theories:shock:

Gustafsson's at Kings Lynn when he had the team logo on them so didnt have to wear a body colour. Well ahead of this time.

Sorry its a dreadful image of the suit.

Ole Olsen incorporated the "'Wolves" jacket on to his leathers in 1972. I recall that Sam Ermolenko adopted a similar approach?

I quite liked the idea of Swindon a few years ago when they had home and away kevlars quite unique for speedway.

Can anyone remember what year the old EL had the team suits but they were skin tight like Lycra they were awful!

Ahh, close then, Wolves had team suits in 1970.

Oxford had team suits in 1973 but from what I remember Hasse Holmqvist's were too small and only Bob Kilby, Gordon Kennett, John Dews and Rick Timmo wore them? Malcolm Ballard didn't wear his but "Mad Malc" as was his want wore them when he moved to Poole in 1974 before them moving to Leicester and then retiring (there has to be a story there somewhere?) Ulf Lovaas wore them in 1974 and Kelvin Mullarkey acquired a set (from whom?) when he rode for Weymouth in 1974.

Definitely 1969 and the team photo shows this.

Yes that's right but I think TSB didn't sponsor the "Lions" until c1974 where the leathers had the TSB logo on the upper arm if I recall?
