topaz325
Things that should have been done years ago are slowly getting through to promoters!, but many fans have long since left disillusioned by the sport. By also insisting on the set race nights, doubling up will still exist but the nights that they double up will not be in conflict. That is in addition to your point that the league conversation rate would make it less attractive.

All it means at the moment is the top league will get new 2nd tier riders on lower averages as the conversion increases No existing riders will be affected whilst they continue in both leagues as the averages for each level are retained (Harris has a lower average in the Premiership than the Championship) It will make it harder for any top tier riders not currently doubling down to do so - but realistically who that isnt already is likely to want to

Poole 7.78; Glasgow 7.71. Just check the 'final' averages on the BSPA website Edited December 4, 2018 by Skidder1

Don't understand why you'd create such a conversion rate, which increases year on year but allow rider's to maintain existing averages, it just doesn't make any sense at all. If riders won't be missing fixtures due to clashes of matches now, because no Championship team rides on a Monday or Thursday... Then what is the problem with doubling up? Surely the problem has now been avoided by the fixed race nights?

One if the biggest problems with doubling up is you loose your team identity, your team of 7 riders are only "yours" for race night (Wednesday) come Thursday they are all racing/representing some other team! this is one area where the BSPA have lost the plot / lost control!

And you think preventing them from riding in the league above or below will help with that? Not when they are racing in Poland, Sweden, Denmark or wherever for the rest of the week anyway. The biggest problem with doubling up in previous seasons has been riser availability which is a massive issue. The BSPA have actually made a positive move in addressing that by bringing in fixed race nights. Therefore, doubling up can only be beneficial to all clubs. It allows for a greater pool of riders being available and should in turn allow for riders to lower their pay demands too. I'll use Scott Nichols as an example. He is able to earn more from riding in 2 leagues and therefore shouldn't be demanding top wonga if he was only riding in 1 league and trying to earn the same money. This should if implemented correctly should be a way of reducing costs to teams. Riders earn more, teams have more choice of riders and fans get to see their favourites at their track. What's the problem?? (Other than the ridiculous 38 points limit)
